My cars - The early years.

I had considered omitting the Rover, but it was a (brief) part of my car history. It was absolutely gutless and a generally horrible car. It's only saving grace was that it was really cheap through my old company.

As for the Vauxhalls...they were quite good in their day when compared to the equivalent Fords. Wouldn't go back there though, those days are definitely over!

Maff, you were right to leave it in....This thread is abour warts and all.....Its freat to see the type of cars everyone has had whilst getting to their dream cars......

Excellent Spike the only dodgey one for me is the Maestro.
Nice you put the Bond Bug in for the girls with your page 3 pose.
I am going to have to find some of mine out.
Phil.

The Bug one was taken the day of the Royal Wedding 1981 Charles & Di, red hot day ! Bought for £700 coz I had only passed a bike test and my girlfriend, (now wife), would not get on the back of a bike.

Spike.....am all for people showing off their prides and joys....but draw the line at blatant naked male torsos.......I know they use sex to sell cars....but this is truly pornograghy and this thread now needs a an over 18 warning at the start of the thread......

Can't believe I forgot my 156, and it was the one to have, the 2.5 V6, seems to be the default car to cut your teeth on before moving onto Maserati ownership.

Si, love the 968...Am tempted to get one of these now you can get a Sport for around 7500.....Just worried they would feel very old...Must drive one and find out...

Andy,

Would recommend the 968. It doesn't have the outright straight line pace that the 911s do - but it will crucify the older 911 in the corners. Crank up the speed and just keep it there for the twisties (not need to brake) and use the happy pedal to steer:) Never driven a Sport as mine was the standard with all the extras and was a comfortable long distance cruiser and was also great on country roads. 50:50 weight distribution is similar to the GS so you know exactly where the back wheels are going to be. Lovely cars and you would be surprised just how good/modern they are. No ESP - just a great a engine and great chassis..... The GS is the closest thing I could come up with as a replacement.

All,

Love this thread as it's great just seeing everyones old cars (including the good, the bad and the ugly!)
