I just love the car and wanted to make it right for me. If I move to another car in a couple of years it's unlikely to be a Strad - I just don't see it being worth an extra 30k although beautiful cars. Same thought process as you had I think?
The move isn't imminent so I just wanted to enjoy this one as it is... I can take the Steering Wheel with me. ( I drove it for the first time yesterday and it really feels like a different car with the new interior) - so I drop a couple of k's into the alcantara trimming, which I just enjoy in the mean time and will help come resale. Its fully specced otherwise so just makes it more personalised.
I had this discussion yesterday with a friend who has a 120k+ range rover. In terms of the money you lose on a brand new car vs personalising / looking after a loved used one there is no contest.

PS: Saw a 458 yesterday in a showroom - what a gorgeous car! Are you enjoying it? Any videos / interior photos to upload? I bet the carbon interior is to die for.

Fair enough Iain, enjoy the car the strad bonnet should be awesome and make the car look aggressive. Don't bother with modding the rear end to Strad spec though IMHO that would probably devalue the car. I agree with you the 458 is a sublime thing of beauty. There was a red 458 parked next to a red 488 in Egham last weekend and the 458 just looks so much nicer. Funny that the 458 does not look dated compared to the newer model too - deffo a future classic even though there are so many of them around it;s just such a nice thing to look at! I will get pics up soon :)

I Think the wheel looks great, as does the alcantara. I would have speced the red stitching had I bought new. The wheel on my strad always seems a little too big, and the carbon part a little too skinny. It grips well though, more aesthetics than anything. Keep on modding!

You know what..even though the Huracan is newer tech the 458 is actually a better car! The Lambo is too Audified! I have added a switchable exhaust valve to the 458 and I don't miss my MC shift for a second it just sounds mad with the valves open. The Huracan on the other hand is sedate.

A lot is to be said about the used car values of the 458 v Huracan too. Early Huracan's (2014) can now be had for around £155k where as a 2011 458 is still fetching anywhere between £150-160k dependant on spec. I think there were a lot of speculators who jumped on the Huracan bandwagon and this has hit prices. Still not complaining though as I never took the hit :D

Having driven one I am not at all surprised, so driver focused, rapid and goes exactly where you point it. Never driven a Huracan but given their lineage I can I understand your comment. I bet good money that the Aventador is a more engaging drive!

MCS - Agree totally - would never consider changing the back - I like the MCS as it is - I don't want it to be a Stradale Wannabee. Its just my ideal GTS.

The 458 will not look dated until perhaps we are all living on Mars...(I think its the best looking in the range as present)...even then it will hold its value and be a thing of beauty.
I would be more than happy with a 430 onwards...When my house is finished I think an F car would be a sensible addition. Black with black carbon and alcantara would stack up well vs any car on the planet IMO. Having said that I was tempted by the Black on Black with Red Contrast Stitched California on AT recently....

Your Stradale is a thing of beauty...with that weather and the windows down and that exhaust sound in race mode... I bet there isn't any room for negative thoughts!

And you managed to get a 688? Only 25 built, nice work.
I had to "pull strings" with a few good contacts to get one and now I am going to stop talking about it until it comes as I think I may get myself in to trouble! :shh:

Thanks IanW, first time I take her out tonight for weeks (wife too!!) to enjoy the lengthening days and the spring weather.

Regarding the 458, I would love one and have (had, better) my sights on one until prices shot up. There was a lovely 2012 black with tan interior, for about 130K brit pounds here 2 years ago. Right now (just checked - for your amusement - http://www.chileautos.cl/auto.asp?codauto=5409977 ) now a similar car, 2012, is 155K brit quid. Not bad investment, and I find it hard to see them going down, especially for the non-turbo factor.

Lovely coloured Lambo! Congratulations MCS

Iainw - just read this from front to back - must have missed it before, I know we have "differed" regarding the RR Evoque, but the mods you have added to the GTS are very tasteful indeed, IMO, Love the wheel and the alcantara looks sublime.

Put me on the shortlist if you get bored - circa April 2018 would be good !!!!!

Thanks dave - appreciate that.
Thats the good thing about this forum- it opens minds to other opinions.
It has been a great experience.
My wife and her family still fawn over the evoque and think the maserati is uncomfortable! Women!!!

Hadn't read this thread till this morning.

1. Iainw the interior of your car looks stunning. I thought about upgrading my wheel to a carbon one. But then I got lazy and couldn't be bothered. Then time passes and you get used to what you have got.

2. Mcs - wow. To the Lambo, the 458 and the new McLaren. I obviously need to work harder. Would really love to see those machines in the flesh. Don't suppose you are in London?

Always hankered for a Huracan so your thoughts have put a doubt in my mind now!
