That 2nd one does look nice, apart from the hideous steering wheel, what were they thinking

What are the differences between the 'Executive' and the 'Sport' models? I'm assuming the suspension will be more taut amongst others?

I do like the look of that but the whiff of doorstep trader would worry me.

The Sport has the larger (20 inch) wheels, stiffer suspension, different gear change settings, black mesh front grill, etc. The Executive has "luxury" items instead, such as picnic tables for rear passengers. Unless you have a chauffeur and sit in the back, you'll want the Sport model.

Hideous....that's a bit harsh. Used to think that myself until I drove Drews Exec. The wood looked and felt great. Suits the Exec model,

Would I be correct to assume that is an 'Executive'?

No believe it's a standard car with a Sport GT front grill added. The wheels were on the option list. If you go onto Maserati talk area there is a sticky thread with the full spec of all the QP's and price new which should help you.

Guys there is a lovely 2008 QP auto executive on eBay with 60k miles on it. The car has over a day to run and has had full service from Joe Macari.

Do a reg check on it on MOT history page.

I don't think that's an Exec as the grill is a standard one plus it should have side blinds and cannot see them. You do get a lot advertising as Exec when they aren't....Nice car though.

There's 3 models, the standard car, then the executive GT and Sport GT. The one I have for sale is a standard car but has more options than I've seen on a QP. The Most significant ones are: Mesh Grille, 19" Exec GT wheels, Rosso Brake Calipers, Heating & Cooling Ventilated seats and the Front & Rear Park Assist. This means it is, with the exception of Picnic Tables, better than Exec GT Spec. It's not however, as good a spec as a Sport GT as there's no changes to the suspension, exhaust or gearbox.

Maybe but I just don't think it suits the car at all

The doorstep trader one could be a good car, some of the best cars I've owned have come from doorstep traders because they have access to trade only auctions.

Mind you I do expect them to be able to write a decent advert

Thanks for all the advice so far, the blue Sport GT with eighty odd thousand on that was on AT that I had half an eye on has been sold which is slightly frustrating but there you go....

Really not keen on wooden steering wheels, not fazed about trim being wood but the steering wheel is just a step too far for me. I'll definitely be watching it with interest and may even have a cheeky bid.

I don't find the Exec GT that appealing. Agree with Lee that wood on the steering wheel is a smidge too far. Although they did do a nice version half leather half dark wood on the Mercs. I would be looking at standard model with decent spec or Sport GT.

Still can't shake off the urge for a QP...The heart wants what the heart wants...

As much as I prefer the thought of the more driver-focused Duo Select, it'll have to be the ZF so the better half can drive it though. There's one not far from me for sale up at a trader so I'll go and see that although that is the 'standard' not Exec or Sport.

I'm not normally fussed by mileage but should I be? There's one on AT with just over 100k, what should I be looking for at that mileage other than the usual wear and tear?

If it were me I would buy the auto one from Dicky as it fits the bill and will be a well sorted car. Look for any noise on cold start and suspension play etc....

That one is definitely on the list, I would have preferred the Sport but I'm not one to get too hung up if it's the right car.
