Hi Lee and a big warm welcome to the forum...Great car the QP and a load of car for the money. IN you brackets of 17/18k you will mostly find the duo select as most full autos are over 20k but the odd one does dip below but just make sure you get an independent inspection. Duo select is a car that you will not get with a quick drive around the block especially if you have had paddles in your AMG's. The QP though feels like a much smaller car when pressing on and the handling always amazes me everytime I drive one.....

This duo select car is owned by a member and was sold to him by another member so is well known on the forum. Great car for the money and has the desirable sport GT 20inch wheels, Sport GT front grille and a tubi exhaust. Well worth looking at...

Also worth talking to Dicky Grace a well respected specialist on here who is more happy to give advice and could also find you a car....He has sold some great cars to many on here.

This may also help with the different models and spec...

I actually spotted that on an earlier search of the usual sites, it looks very well cared for and ideal but for two things; it's too close in price to a QP with the ZF box and also the distance (and consequently the seven to eight hour journey one way) is an issue.

To clarify, I meant driving round town in manual paddle mode will be smoother than using auto. It was same with my M5. A dog in traffic in auto mode which on these robotised clutch cars is an afterthought to the F1 derived tech.

Thanks, I think once I do take the plunge it'll be hard to look at anything else without thinking "yes, but it isn't a Maserati, is it?"

Spot on. Absolutely spot on.

Also spot on mate - sorry, I thought you meant in sport mode. No question, manually controlling the changes with the paddles is certainly the way to go.

Don't let the distance put you off. Cheap flights to Aberdeen from Leeds Bradford I think and train of course.
I drive further than that to Yorkshire on a regular basis and it isn't that bad.
Maybe Paul in Aberdeen would even meet you in likes of Edinburgh if you were interested?

Yup, like that QP. Was trying to do the man maths to get into a QP when I sell the XJ!

I really could do with a 4x4 SUV 7 seater style motor as versalite all rounder to add to the fleet first though. Looked at an XC90 4.4 V8 that seemed to hit the spot. Although saw a 7 seater E55 that was tempting!

I am sure I saw that the owner will deliver as well...

Went to view one local to me this evening and, even though it was the first one I've seen (and been in), I think I'm in love...

My limit is an eight hour round trip if I was 100% on the car which takes me as far north as Edinburgh and as far south as Southampton.

With this, I know I may risk 'missing out' on the odd car but with how long they seem to hang about it's a buyers market; I actually started looking three/four months ago and there's still plenty about that were up for sale even then.

(I have listened to that YT sound clip of his exhaust half a dozen times already though!)

I saw it when you were selling and must say I was tempted and liked it a lot. Any goods or bads on the E55? Recommend it? I struggled with the SL55 compared to the SL60. Too much low down torque.

I had an idea that the E63 would be better with a little less low down torque and more linear then higher end power delivery but not tried one yet. The E90 M5 I had gave so much better natural mechanical traction. The SL55 was a little silly.

Being the seven seat estate it got the power down a lot more than my previous saloon did, they're a truly great all rounder and I loved the supercharged engine.

It was also straightforward for this Mrs to drive too, it only shot off when provoked.

Having driven the grey one last night, I think I can get over the colour, it's more like a *cough* dark silver than a grey.

Is there anywhere online where I can check the cars spec sheet to see if and which optional extras were fitted?

One thing I did notice about the car last night was that it didn't start on the turn of the key, it took a second or maybe two. Having trawled YT and the Internet, it seems as though 'they all do it".

Is it normal?

I believe that Drew, among other QP owners has said exactly this. Odd because the identical engine 4200s don't.

Well remembered young C.

My QP always turns the engine for a short while before it attempts to fire. Same every time... The Spyder with essentially an identical engine started without the pause.

I like it - it builds oil pressure before it's running.

Thanks for clearing that up; it certainly didn't sound as though it was struggling to start per se just a little odd.

Would be nice if they all did :)

Mines the same, 3 or 4 revolutions before it starts, but spins over very fast and never fails to start, same hot or cold

Thanks, I've now seen a couple of articles mention it but it always puts my mind at rest when actual owners say the same.
