I am trident free..... It's a long affair for sure, met some amazing people who have become really close friends, from going on the Centenary tour to many trips. Le Mans, Goodwood revival, ACE, Festival Italia etc and being a mod on here today was the day I got out of the brand and am now Maserless. I've seen some 15 tridents over that time which is more than most will own in overall cars in their life let alone one brand.

I was very interested in staying loyal but I felt the GT now being going to full EV and the MC20 at £200k with options is a proper kick in the nuts especially for a V6 motor.

I will naturally still frequent this lovely place and still help GT and QP owners with their cars but for now I need to move to a different brand as I've now lost love with Maserati.

Thanks for listening!

I can understand how you feel. I've often thought that loving these cars is like being in an abusive relationship.
I'm sure that the owners of Boras and Khamsins, looked upon those early Biturbos with absolute horror. But the call of the Trident is strong, I bet you'll be back.

The really big question is what are you falling in love with?
A fair question mate. As a fan now of the older cars and more 80's Era I will still maintain the Golf GTI collection and just added a Pirelli Edition GTI mk5 to the fleet which will become a daily until I take delivery of a Lotus Emira. I've owned new cars before after seeing the "spy shots" or launch cars, the first was the RX-8 when I was 24 and then the B7 RS4 when I was 30. The only other car to grab moe like those did has been the Emira, just oozes good looks, has a decent engine (V6 or AMG 4 pot you choose), and is at reasonably sensible money. I predict that it will sell well and be the model that will turn the fortunes of Lotus just like the Cayenne did for Porsche. It will put Lotus on the map in the US which is a tough market to crack!

It does look tremendous the Emira. Let’s hope it’s not the old ’Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious’

Was never actually true in my extensive experience. Probably the most reliable brand I’ve ever owned when maintained properly. Bit like Maseratis……

I've had literally everything from 3200 on,. and loved every minute of ownership. I just feel there is nothing else the brand can offer right now. Sure I'd like an MC20 but at 170k plus it's just not a car I'd own from new when in reality I could potentially get into a 3 year old one for a fraction of the price. The time to buy tridents isn't brand new.....

Phil, so many great cars to try so understand why you want to move on. Been a pleasure meeting you and sharing so great Llandow track day memories ….Look forward to seeing what path you end up taking especially if it’s an Emira…

Well if the Lotus comes off Andy, then we need a good Llandow session for sure and will let you have a good blast round there too.

Sounds good to me Phil….I bet that would be fun around there and a few glasses of wine the night before is a must as well.

Sticking with Masers as long as you have is medal worthy in itself. No harm in moving on, especially into something as potentially lovely as the new Lotus. That Pirelli Golf has a big appeal also. Well played!
