Hi Enzo where about will you be holding this?

Dependant on location I would be interested in popping along to see what you all get upto and to catch up with other owners and see your cars.

Simon

Ditto. I wouldn't mind tagging along either

as per thread I can only have a few at my end due to space, unless anyone has an area or unit we could use and all meet up ? (would need access to power and water)

- sat 12 Apr
- sun 13 Apr
- sat 26th Apr
- sun 27th Apr
- sat 3rd May

yep we can cover all this - machine techniques, pads and compounds

Sorry I forgot about Easter and a wedding I've got to go to!!

I think it's near Milton keynes that this will take place.

I can do:

12 April - If we start early and finish by 1pm.
- sun 13 Apr (If we start later, say noon start)
- sat 3rd May
- sun 4th May

Cheers

Yes, that did come up nice, oh and note them not using a dual action polisher, they used the MOP same as mine (sort off)

I think I'm right in saying (prepared to be shot down now) that pro detailers rarely use a DA as they are skilled and experienced with the rotary which polishes at double the speed or more that a DA can. DAs are better for the novice (like me) who don't want to risk burning through the paint.

I know that some detailers offer lessons on how to use a rotary polisher.

That's probably a fair assumption.

Ok interesting Enzo - this makes me realise I am doing the right thing using a DA. As I don't have a paint depth reader, if I was to use a rotary polisher I would definitely be running a risk on the plastics (front and rear bumpers and sills) and other thinly painted sections.

Would you say a rotary works at twice the speed or more than a DA? I have noticed it does take me a long time with the DA, but maybe that's just my (poor) technique as well.

rotary only works faster not due to speed but as it spents more time on one spot, a DA even when stationary will not stay on one spot

yes DA is ideal for bumpers, as a rotary even on thick paint could cause heat and cause the top coat to haze
