CAR AUCTIONS

Ah ok, I see it reached £15k plus £900 fees but was unsold. That is surely about the maximum it would attain at the auction today being an auto; unless two folk in the room are loaded up on free Pimms.

Mine has had extensive works, basically a rolling restoration, repaint etc in 2019, and has done 5k faultless miles since. Also being one of only 2-3 good manuals that have come to market in the last 12 years or so means it’s far more desirable to most buyers.

The seller should’ve taken that price on TheMarket! They’ll be kicking themselves for offering it without reserve because today it went for £8800 + Commission.

I drove up there a couple of months ago (4 hours each way) to view a car pre-auction. It looked okay in the photo’s, but actually was a shed. In fact, virtually every car they had was a shed. I’ll never bother looking at their stuff again, unless I’m deliberately looking for a project.

Thats auctions for you…
We all get drawn in, as the TV programme is quite captivating. When you start to look closer, all the cars they sell are in a poor state.

Their auction presentations don’t give buyers much help, unlike TheMarket or Collecting Cars where a lot more information is presented. I think they genuinely expect people to ‘come on down and have a look’ as they say that in most of their videos. It’s the best way to check reality against the information given, although a lot of people do not, they take a chance and that’s when disappointment can set in.

My mums work colleague had a blue one. It was bloody uncomfortable, suspension was rock hard.
Always fancied a big ars3d 911 and I think my mind might forgive the hard ride; whether my back would is another question.......
