With some cars (I can't remember if this applies to the Maser) the thin metal plate has to be removed from the old pads and attached to the new. I've had to do this plenty of times. The plate appears to be bonded to the pad, but is stuck on with a mixture of dirt, copper grease and static! Dig out your old pads and see if you can remove the metal plates from them.Took the car out after I finished yesterday and all was ok. Went out today and the brakes are making a terrible screeching/ grinding sound!!
I noticed on the old pads they had a thin metal plate on the back but the new ones did not. I smeared some copper grease on the backs of the pads, about a pea size blob. Should I have put more on?
Thanks
May be a bit more from the near side. Should these thin metal plates gone in aswell with the pads?
Brendan, the good news is that you won't have to remove the calipers when you do this so it should be a relatively quick job!
Maybe the copper slip became displaced when you went on your first run
What pads are you useing..
Dave
Yes Pagid, whats the 'copper slip'?
