thinking about it
but it is not a reasonable price and it is not a project :)

Dickie's one in stock is very nice but again not a project. There were a couple hanging around last year which most definitely were but I don't know what became of them.

Interested in what you class as a 'project' given that fixing these cars can easily run into >£5k just in parts, and the sheds I've seen listed are still c£17/18k

Well I’ve just sold my Elise and was hoping to get into one for around 18k to 20k went to look at one last year for 19k and was in pretty good shape only downside is the clutch was 60% worn and the typical sticky button

I think you will struggle to get one for much under £20k - certainly not from a dealer unless it is high miles. There are 9 GS on autotrader currently and only one is (£5) under 20k.

To me 60% worn means 40% left so I really wouldn't get too hung up on that. A clutch is a consumable - albeit an expensive one! And if you are really worried about that as a possible future expense, a 15 year old Maserati probably isn't for you.

yeah In all fairness I got quotes to change the clutch out,I know that a GS isn’t going to be plain sailing no bills and all the rest of it,I’d like to go into the purchase though eyes wide open

I have run 3 4200/GS cars over the last 13 years so know as much as most what they can cost to run and maintain.

You can get a project car and run it well for c18k, you can also get a 'good car and it may bight your hand off with costs.

There are some big ticket prices for parts not just the clutch... in fact I would feel confident that the clutch should be low down on your worries because you can still get them.

Suspension is the one I would look out for more, they are 12+ years old and some major parts are NLA.

Buy on history and time the car has spent with its last owner... one +60k miles are the bargains as they have been used regularly and more likely to have seen a garage each year.

I have a customer call today has a Nero Carbonio with tan interior, 53k miles and 80% clutch wear (is the original)

Lovely car but obviously has to put a clutch in it, although it’s not slippping and drivers perfect.

£22k as it is, serviced or £25k serviced with a brand new clutch.

PM me @conaero if it of interest.
