I picked up the Maserati yesterday. What a 24 hours!

I have never been intimidated by a road car before but the first drive certainly put in my place!Loved it though.

Great experience picking it up from Supercars in Sheffield. They have only done the inspection but spent loads of time talking me through the car, it's uniqueness and what to look out for.

Upon leaving, the boot wouldn't shut first time, but I have the knack for that now.

Straight into a 250 mile drive. What a car! I found myself letting lorries overtake on the dual carriageway so that once they pulled in I then had a clear bit of road to floor it.

The driving position is not ideal for me but as I have never even sat in a Maserati before I'm sure I can get used to it.

It was a hot night. Glad of the air con. I understand that it is rare for this to work in a 3200.

Today has been good. I have never been treated so well on the road. Everyone has let me out and lots of admiring glances.....apart from the guy in the car park who's car alarm was triggered by the thunderous exhaust note. I was oblivious at first.

Everything appears to be working as it should. Only problem so far is a puncture from a huge nail. All sorted.

Sorry this isn't a very exciting right up. I'm knackered!

Couple of pics and video attached. Hopefully. IMG_6014.JPGIMG_5977.JPGIMG_5978.JPGhttps://vimeo.com/182114932IMG_5964.JPG

She looks good! Best of luck and enjoy. Re the boot lid, most of us just drop it from about 2" and it usually catches......slamming does not work.

Thanks. I've gone for the delicate 2" drop too. Glad to hear it's the best way.

I was initially told they need two attempts to close but Allan demonstrated on his AC how it should be done. I sometimes need 3 inches though. That extra inch can make all the difference....

apparently.

Excellent, glad it went well. Take care out there, you need a good few 100 miles in before you start to get the hang of them. Leaving a gap to floor it? I find myself doing that all the time :)

Hope I get the same luck bringing my 1977 Daimler XJC up to Auckland from Wellington bought and paid for blind.
Have to say really excited about having another 4.2 into the Stable.

Happy memories being taken to school in the back of a 4.2 XJC, squadron blue. Funny how you remember these things, like the power steering hissing on it!
It was a families friends Mums Jag, half the time they did the school run, the other half my Mum did it, in our Triumph 2.5PI saloon, white of course!

3200s rock. I love mine even if it does bite me in the back side occasionally. The mid range punch is just so addictive. :)

Stand by what I said a week or so ago, you need to spend 100k plus to match this level of luxury driving and mid range kidney kick! 3200 rules!

Yes it is the mid range that has been most satisfying. Addictive!
