I just checked on eBay,there an nice old 4200 on there....99p start,no reserve:omg:

No reserve is just a plo to get interest as Im the seller will bump up the price or stop the auction if they don't get what they want.

I've sold a few cars via ebay, no Massers though but like I said if I was in a hurry to sell then that would be the route I took. People do have the opportunity to look before they buy, I'd be wary of bidders who didn't come and look first. Or silly bids. Why not start at 99p and have no reserve? They always fetch what someone is willing to pay, if you have a reserve in mind, stick it in the classifieds or pistonheads, or here.

The voice of experience Nick.......hence the importance of having a looksee.......often not remotely as described and a photo hides a hundred faults

I guess its luck, some get lucky and others not so. I've had a few wasters but have made 2nd chance offers to 2nd highest bidders, I've also pulled auctions and done deals with someone for a fair price before the auction ended. If they don't ask questions or come and see it then they must be bonkers.

I use ebay as a "window". Normally sales concluded outside of ebay, probably to their disapproval. But it is a useful tool to bring cars,( or whatever,) to the attention of the masses. I have noticed that bidding via ebay usually only gets to around 2/3rds of the probable value, people erring on the side of caution i would suspect.

I've sold 2 VW Golf diesel estates, a BMW 330d, a Kawasaki GPz900R and a Triumph 1050 Sprint and got my full asking price for the lot. From personal experience, if you price them right they seem to go. If you don't, they won't.

This is very true. I also believe the write up has everything to do with the final value of the sale; it goes a lot further than people think. I've tried to sell a car (porsche) without luck, I spent a bit of time and re-wrote the whole thing; voila sale complete.

Another 120 mile drive today, not an error light, or fluctuating oil pressure gauge in sight. Long may it continue.

Well as you know allandwf, I have just been on a 1,150 mile trip in mine in the last 6 days.
Not a light or problem with mine either. I must say since doing the TB and now having had a
contactless throttle pedal fitted, the car runs brilliantly.

I have to thank the guys at Autoshield again too as they fitted a new radiator to mine 2 weeks ago,
along with new rear brake pads ready for my trip. Thankfully I did do the radiator otherwise the car
may have cooked itself, with the temperatures up in Scotland.

I kept a track of my MPG again whilst away and cannot believe how good it is. It appears much better
since the TB and Contactless pedal.

On the drive from the Wirral to Perth at 80mph I achieved 26.15mpg

Then over 3 to 4 days of spirited driving I achieved 21.9mpg

The one that shocked me most was today. Perth back to the Wirral, which was
281 miles and at a constant 80mph being very carefull not to light up the Turbo's I achieved
28mpg!

Not sure if I should be proud of that or sad at myself for not just thrashing it :)

I just love this car :numberone:
