Daughters birthday, so visit scheduled, just over 100 miles to Glasgow. Sun shining so took the Maserati, great drive and effortless overtaking on motorway. Coincided with Scottish Ferrari Club meet in Glasgow so "met", or should that read hunted down, a few on the way home. Good drive with a stunning 458 spider, very fast and VERY wide, but on public roads we held our own ( thanks for letting us past at one point.) As for noise imho Maserati , with Larinis, won over many of them, not a great fan of the "raspy" noise some seem to make. Got home and Maserati covered in flies, me not exactly relaxed, but very contented. A good reminder just how good, and value for money, the 3200 is.

took mine for a long(ish) run last night and today, including over 2 hours of traffic crawling, i love my 3200.

think i got a soft engine mount somewhere though, after sitting in traffic for prolonged periods i seem to get a slight jerk/knock when lifting off/applying the throttle which feels like the engine/gearbox has a bit of 'play' in the mounts, the gearstick wobbled back and forth again at the same time as the knock, once on the move again its fine, i can only assume heat soak makes what i feels like the rear gearbox mount rubber go soft.

oh and does every maserati owner have every passer by, either on foot, or in a car, say 'maserati' ... lol

No. The ones I pass tend to say "What the f*ck was that? My ears hurt"!

Sounds like you had fun and es the 3200 is such valur for money....I see the early 4200's are now as cheap if not cheaper than a 3200 so looks like good 3200's will be worth more than an early 4200 so look after her.

I think this is going to be very true; I see 3200 prices creeping up now. I suspect it's the better interiors that help; all leather vs plastic and the stunning rear end!. I havnt driven a 4200 so can't comment on that aspect but hear ths early ones have a lot of niggles so that's likely not helping the value.

I think about the future and what I would sell the 3200 for... It would be a late GS, a GT (although I'm not sure about the size and weight aspect for handling) or a 360... But then again I may just keep her.

Add in the fact that good dealers are extremely helpful with advise and parts discount it makes for a very sensible (can that be said?!) choice of Italian sports car.

Glad you had a good time with the 3200GT. Drove the 4200 Spyder F1 for 2 months and now owns a 3200GT 6-speed.
I admit the 4200 is a more usable car with a proper V8 de-tuned Ferrari 430 engine but you can't beat the old school
turbo charged V8 fun although I reckon you must be an adult rather than a new kid to control the beast.
Running around in town for the whole afternoon under 33-34 degree C and surprisingly the ERROR light is gone this
morning.

Truly typical Italian behaviour but I like it. Have a great week everyone!

So few 3200s about relative to whats been sold........many more 4200s...........only a low miles, sub 10K 3200 AC will accrue in value.......but not for another 10 yrs IMHO

I disagree, but then I would wouldn't I? I think they have bottomed out, I agree that the low mileage AC will be worth more and will appreciate quicker but I think its supply and demand, the 3200 is a more sought after car, good ones particularly so. Lets see what happens with prices. To be honest they are both worth peanuts for the amount of car you get.

If you have a scout through the classifieds its does seem that a 4200 is now cheaper than a good 3200...

They will always be a cross over between a good 3200 and a bad/high mileage 4200 though.
Like for like, the 4200 worth more I would say.

On the face of it perhaps so, but when you take a close look at the condition and history of the subject 4200's that perception may change.
