3200 barn find

I understand it to be a very nice car, I enquired about it when you bought it if it's the car I'm thinking of. The problem is that few people will consider a 100,000 mile 3200, no matter how good it is. They will happily pay £12k for an awful car with half the miles though....

Macaroni's car is my old 3200 that I sold to Cowsurgeon a few years ago. Great car, I spent an absolute fortune getting it how I wanted.

Yeah thought it was that car MAF, difficult one to sell no matter how good it is. I know a club member who has a 100k miler and it's absolutely stunning throughout, but most folk won't view because of the mileage.

I like high miles cars.
It's a sign of reliability.
Obviously I would be looking to pay less than for an equal condition car with half the miles.

We're back to that over 50k mileage debate again, it puts off so many people and as for 100k - they seem to be virtually worthless for so many people but at least here on SM, there are more sensible people who see the benefit of a well used car

We seem to be few and far between, though

My old 2001 3200GT's mint with less than 25k...It also costs me a fortune to maintain as every thing needs to be just perfect or even better... it gets ragged to death in the summer months though and I mean ragged!

So would you call a 15 year old Maser like mine a garage queen?...

Some of the most reliable cars I've owned have had high mileage , I buy them because I hate depreciation, it never ceases to amaze me how people will change perfectly good paid for cars for a £300 a month PCP because it does 60mpg when they do 4000 miles a year .

However you have to accept they may be a difficult sell and price accordingly, you have to look at your competition , if there's 10 cars up with lower mileage for less money to the average joe your car is expensive regardless of how reliable it's been, people my age are still thinking about the 70s when a 100k car was scrap.

The £500+ tax will give a lot of cars a premature death, who wants a 10 year old Hyundai at £10 a week to tax it.

I am not phased about higher mileages I just factor it into the deal. I bought my GT with 101K and paid good money for it but it had documented history of new engine (83k), new gearbox (97k), replacement LSD diff (70k) etc. it was previously owned by an OCD owner who addressed every mark on the body or interior as soon as they appeared overall IMO a good buy.

I always try to buy cars where depreciation is as small as possible and even have a few that have increased in value :)

A seemingly very honest ad. Ambitious price, but could be a decent car made out of it for the right money. Lost service history would be my biggest issue.

EDIT - the MOT only ran out in June 2015, so the story of it 'being forgotten about' and the whole barn find thing seems a bit of nonsense. For a 33k miles car it's not in great shape mechanically and has poor condition wheels and bodywork.

Nearly £11k for a car with all those problems? Not for me. It was most likely parked up because it has numerous, potentially expensive, faults that need sorting.

What I can't understand is how it had a recent MOT

When I owned a 3200 the red key was like the one shown in the ad, I bought my car without one but wrote to the supplying dealer enquiring about the chance they held onto it at point of sale, as lots did apparently, and hey presto they had it!
Good result for the cost of a stamp.....
