Personally I'd change every fluid I could just for reassurance, in particular, coolant, brake and power steering and these may not have been picked up within the scheduled servicing; I'd also ask them to pull the air and pollen filters to see if they have actually been changed and finally the aux belt is another that amazingly gets charged as being changed at services but often isn't. You can check this yourself with a torch and look for any cracking on the V's...

Regarding the de-lamination this I would think is a gradual process up to the point of failure. The friction material will stay in place right up until the last bit of bonding fails. You can almost read the failure in the discolouration on the metal surface up to the last bit which will look fresh.

I would ask PK Supercars what they did less than a year ago as with my 4200 they were very pragmatic, testing brake fluid, p/s fluid, checking the aux belt and only changing these things if necessary. Once the car is old enough to be out of the main dealer network then many people chuck the Maserati schedule out of the window and do everything by condition rather than time.

I'd always opt for an annual or 6K miles oil/filter change as a minimum, preferably in October, just before winter.

Looks just like, lack of use, and wear and tear. Once sorted, should all be good, annoying rather than a disaster. I try and use my handbrake in normal day to day running, but leave the handbrake off every time I am away, and for any long periods of time. The pads shouldn't really wear away, but delamination will be far more common.

Thanks big bob, it has the sports handling pack which includes the drilled and grooved brake discs

The Maserati Health Check identified a dead cell in the battery so I will need to get that changed at some point in the very near future, may as well get it done now to be fair

At the end of the day you have bought a good value car with a warranty and it will now be fixed so I would not worry. Buying with a Maserati used car warranty would have given more piece of mind but the car would have cost more and, anyway, main dealers tend to shy away from cars once they get to five years old.

The trick is not to use the EPB if the car will park up for a long time and don't use it if the car is wet if you are parking up for more than a day or so.

I would get them to check the battery and give a health check on the front brakes. It intrigues me that a 20,000 mile car has uprated brakes as brakes on the GranTurismo can last up to 40,000 miles.

PK changed the fluids in May, they were very helpful and know the previous owner personally, knew he kept it garaged on a trickle charger etc. They remembered the car, what they'd done etc, the chap I spoke to had actually collected and returned the car when they serviced it in May and the previous owner provided a receipt for the service from PK. I morphed into a private detective for a couple of days in the run up to the purchase!

The only curious thing is the PK receipt indicates they changed the bushes and Maserati then changed them again in December which seems bizarre......

Will definitely get Autoshield to give it another full once over for the sake of diligence, it seems opportune if Arnold Clark are picking up the tab for any bits they/Maserati missed!

If it is a GTS non auto there is no park. You can leave it in First or Reverse with the EPB off.

On my QP, I thought the EBP replaced the handbrake and I would always use the handbrake?

Sorry I don't understand your statement.

The EPB replaces the handbrake. But it is like a manual car - there are only gears 1-6 and reverse.

Get the car in to Autoshield, they will tell you the truth about the overall condition and give it a good check if you ask them to..!!

Left the car with Marios this morning! He has confirmed the damage/cost to repair and just waiting on Arnold Clark/BMW to confirm they're happy to pay etc.

Same bushes? Was one set for the ARB?

Will check the receipt on this when I get the car back, as it is in the service history in the books in the boot.

So Arnold Clark are trying to get out of paying for the repair, stating that they have spoken to Maserati who have advised them this is down to "operator error"! The chap on the phone I just spoke to is trying to convince me I have been driving around with the EPB on since the day I bought it which has led to this happening, which I find a little odd......

Just waiting to see if this is their final position before I go back to them and tell them mine.

Marios has been a great help throughout, I can see why he has the reputation on here that he does.

Remember that the epb auto releases in drive when you press go so the argument makes no sense.
