Ah, then why (in the short and medium term - by which time things may have changed again) buy them?
Just saying - I have no plans to buy the wretched things.

In with you Martin - I hate all the auto stuff. Even auto gearboxes, hence a Strad for me, not an MC Auto Shift etc. But when it comes to driving, for some people, a computer can do it better than they can!
Like most women you mean;)

As the law stands at the moment you can switch the speed limiter off , my understanding is when you start the car the speed limiter is live until you turn it off
This GR Yaris has the technology I'm sure , it detects road signs and displays the limit you're in on the display but doesn't restrict the speed

I had a mercedes with a speed limiter , I did use that in unfamiliar towns and 50 limits on motorways where it's easy to let your speed creep up

It will be if you want to buy anything new

Speed limiters from July this year , probably Vaccine booster detectors soon :D
Not a bad idea really, as long as you can turn it off.
If the car could drive itself under speed limit conditions, even better!

It's when you can't turn it off , the era of enjoying driving is winding down , thankfully I'll be long dead by the time it's over

Just an update , not crashed it yet

Still loving the GR , still worth more than it cost and looking likely to stay that way , Toyota production is expected to be 500,000 cars down this year due to the global chip shortage and Covid , there's no need to build the 25,000 because they can't rally the GR now as the rules have changed and they lose money on them there's rumours they might not build the full 25,000 , they've just launched a tuned special for the JDM only but it's £54,000, I think they'll be making a profit on that one!

Also the UK price has gone up by £1100 in line with all Toyota cars, even though you can't order a GR.

This is the only car I've ever had where I feel like they're taking the monthly payment then giving it back so I can shove it in the glove box.

I was on the fence before I jumped but I'm glad I went for it.

There's a bit of a discussion on the GR forum about Toyota's costs in building the Yaris GR and whether they're making a profit

I really don't see how they can be , the base car OTR is 30k , that includes

20% vat ,

10% duty on Japanese cars

£895 1st year VED

Shipping from Japan to UK

Dealer fees/ commission

That must get it down to 20k ,how can they hand build a low volume car for 20k then sell it on 0% finance , they have to be losing money on them.

If I didn't crash into the first tree, it would be the second!!
That can't be his car , on the GR forum they're all terrified to let a dealer service it in case they put the wrong oil in let alone throwing it round a forest, I can't imagine how many buckets and cotton wool dabs they'd need to clean it

Bought a circuit version a few months ago to use as a daily, really enjoying it so far.

Looking at the above was yours a convenience version?

Some people are in dreamland looking at the prices they are trying to get for these….
