Winter tyre sizes (GT)

I know this topic comes up every year, and I have searched the forum for answers….

I have a GT on 20’s, Pzero’s, which as we know are great in the dry when at temp, but terrible in cold and damp/wet conditions. They’ve not coped well in heavy rain recently.

I can’t wait for the Pzero’s to die so I can replace with Michelin PS4S’s.

Unfortunately I need to use my car all year round, so am looking at winter rubber.

Can I fit Stradale tyre sizes to my GT wheels? (10mm wider, same profile)
Can I mismatch with Stradale size on one axle only?
I know it is not recommended to run winter rears with summer fronts - does anyone have first hand experience?
Will Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s be adequate if driving to the conditions? (Urban Derbyshire)

cheers all. I’m just looking at rubber rather than spare wheels like I have for the family car.

pic for attention  (not my car)107135

Every week! Here is this weeks addition to a previous thread. https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/winter-tyres-for-qp.25284/post-949928. If you look back one person refers to using winters on the rear only. But it doesn’t seem too sensible.

As for Strad sized tyres on standard rims, they are the same size, so there is no issue there. I’ve also seen one with wider fronts with standard rears.

Nice pic, but it won’t help with attention, they don’t come up on the home page. This ain’t facebook ;)

Cheers for your answers.

Yes - I saw that thread but didn’t want to contaminate a QP thread with GT questions.

I just liked the pic as it’s those conditions that are the Pzero’s weakness. Car is same colour as mine too.

Yes.

Yes - I currently have Strad size fronts (255) with standard rears (285) No issues with TCS or anything like that. I prefer the look, as the standard fronts on a GT look a little 'stretched' in my opinion, and now they look even with the rears. I also prefer how it handles with a bit more grip up front, and a slightly looser rear.
I know it is not recommended to run winter rears with summer fronts - does anyone have first hand experience?
Yes, although you have to be aware of the differing grip levels. I ran Sotto zero rears and MPSS4s Fronts on my first GT in winter. Absolutely no issues at all. However, not sure I'd do the same with Pzero on the front, as the difference in grip will be huge from front to rear.
Will Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s be adequate if driving to the conditions? (Urban Derbyshire)
YES! Absolutely. MPSS4s are a great all year tyre, and fine for winter. I've been running them through winter for years without issue. Only when there is compact snow on the ground, will you have any issues getting moving, but once rolling, are not too bad. Obviously in those conditions, Winter tyres will massively outperform the MPSS, But realistically how many days a year do you drive in the snow?
MPSS are very good in all other conditions.

I use to run my Spyder all year round and fitted winter tyres, they are a massive difference once the temps start to drop even if there is no snow. Soldthese on to another forum member who can advise on his experiences
