Who to use to do the tracking/alignment on my 4200 Spyder?

Hi, I took my car to Emlem the other day (as a new owner). They were great and there are a number of smaller things to be done to the car. One is the tracking/alignment. They can't do it for a couple of months but we have a great independent tyre and alignment specialist (a real motorsport fan & absolutely trustworthy). He says this is what he does. Can I use him or should I go to a Maserati specialist? Will my local man know the settings or have I misunderstood how it works? Thanks

These cars are extremely susceptible to poor tracking and alignment and when set right can make a massive difference. I would have thought any specialist alignment company would be fine in the past I have used a local, race prep company.

Use him...! And dont use Maserati settings....lol
Seriously, the set-up will reference the factory numbers; usually available through the portal they use once they enter the car details...but thereafter, its fair to say the Maserati numbers will lunch the tyres in short order, track excessively once slightly worn or pressures drop even slightly...
The factory numbers are agressive, track focused rather than road orientated on balance. Use something more benign. Emblem can probably give you some decent pointers in this rspect. Others have recommended their set up in the past- they will know....

Yikes, so if I had mine done on a Hunter alignment system recently, which I imagine would call upon Maserati factory numbers - you're saying this is sub-optimal?

All alignments are a compromise. If you're happy with what you have now (and I can't recall how bad the tyre wear issue is on the 420, but on the GT is tucks), happy days. However talking to a pro and getting them to create settings to do what you want can pay dividends.

If you like it, thats all that counts...
Sub-optimal is a strange idea...lol
Geo set up is tailored to produce a certain result. Everything affects everyting else in this regard....Its a balance of tade offs and compromises to reach a particular goal
Maserati certainly didnt think it sub-optimal....

Sub-optimal for Tyre Wear. Maserati dialed in the car to be more pointy to appease the motoring journalists at the time

Pretty sure when I asked Emblem they provided their suggested settings, not sure there was much difference on the Spyder but memory not what it was

Never had any tyre wear issues on my 4200, even wear down to replacement. Never had any re-alignment from factory settings.

If you message me privately I will share my number and explain who I use and why ( there are only two people who I use). They are specialists in chassis tuning and do geometry day in/day out and extremely knowledgeable.
Where are you based?
