What's the story behind your username?

As per the title, I'm curious about the reasons for people's usernames on the board.

As OP I'll guess I'll go first...

Alecci is an ancient Latin form of Alexander and it's derivative Alexis. Alexander is my first name, so I thought it would work well on forums as it's both shorter and somewhat unusual.

I bet others have more interesting stories to tell, so don't be too shy to share!

Me well my other love is my 1969 Opel GT.. No, it's not a Manta before you ask, it's a left hand drive baby Corvette look a like.

There was a race competition version produced my an Italian styling house called Conrearo and my user name is a play on that from back on the Opel GT forums that I have adopted.

Real name Matthew Yates so no real tie with that.

Fortunately it sounds Italian so has worked out for me with my preferred path of automobile.

Mate calls or at least used to call me simondie so it eventually got abbreviated to mondie. Sounds a bit french but I can assure you it isn't!

RSM - Thats my appointment, Regimental Sergeant Major, Masser - no idea, it just came to me

I am the RSM at Army Training Unit (South) near Aldershot - we train 30% of the national Phase One Territorial Army in the UK, thats a recruit (male or female) who has passed selection and decided to join the TA, after 6 weekends or 9 for infantry they are deemed a trained soldier and can carry out further consolidated training to ensure they are a proficient soldier. On average I have 200plus recruits every other weekend on camp.

In my spare civilian time I run a small construction management company.

Real name is Ian - at weekends just plain Sir!

JDM is where my automotive roots derive, Japanese Domestic Market. It's in my blood, but it's now being diluted by all this Italian passion and soul!! I'm like some weird ******* far eastern/European love child now, it feels wrong yet so right at the same time

For years I've simply used my name on forums but I've become more wary about doing that these days with the way information is never deleted and can be searched and collated. So signing up here I had to think of something Maserati related that hadn't already been taken; would have loved '250 F' or similar.

I toyed with: 'Four Door', 'Ceithre Doras' (same in Irish), 'Maserati Bird Rage' and few others before settling on my Tried and Tested pun.

Did someone say whisky?

Anyway, my name comes from the same stable as Nick P!

Nothing too difficult at my age.

I am also guilty of not really spending any time on a user name. When i opened a yahoo mail account (some years ago now) yahoo gave me my name DavidShanks83 (clearly there had been 82 previous David Shanks's) So in the interests of being able to remember all the miriad of user names i stuck to davy83. Davy was always my handle when i was younger, and my family still use it.
