I mean the Doublewood. I find in general most of these cask finishes are a triumph of marketing over substance, but YMMV

I feel the smell (let’s call it nose to be posh) of the casks is more than on the tongue, but, of course taste is pallet and smell and I like the hint the cask gives it.

As always each to their own, this is going down nicely

Totally the important thing. Mrs C is currently enjoying a 16yo Lagavullin. I have the 8yo 'expression' of the 200 anniversary one. It's not a patch on it

Yeah. So I have Ballantynes now, with rocks. Lots of blends I like with ice. Lagavullin and most any single malt or decent blend that I like I wouldn't. Johnny Black, I'm not a massive fan, so happy to put ice in. (not even sure if that's single malt)

I've never had a Japanese whiskey I found better than my favourite Scotch. One of our wino pals has a decent selection. It's OK, but, as a generalisation, seems poor value.
