Collected him from my detailer who restored this View attachment 125378 to thisView attachment 125379 - no filler required as his wrinkles were more like fine lines. Also had a chat with Hoodtech - seems his roof is now waiting in German customs and appropriate documents have been sent - all being well that means the trip to Chester should go ahead in a couple of weeks. And ordered some cleaning materials to help maintain his sparkle.

Ooh! Who did that nice refurb?

Have bought a second hand seat so started the long job of cleaning the leather several times before changing the colour (have done car seats before so no problem)
My intention is to replace the seat in the car with the burnt out motor, with this new seat that works.

Still have the problem of getting the old seat out, I think and this is a guess, I may be able to jack the front of the seat up enough so I can get a cutting disc under the side rails and cut the rear bolts.
Its all a bit medieval I know but am at a loss as to an alternative.

If its the fore and aft motor that has gone can you raise the seat height enought to get at the two motors that control the fore and aft and front of seat raise ? The motor look the same on the thread below if they are and you swap them over you can hopefully move the seat back to get to the last two bolts. Fiddly no doubt but it may save you breaking out the cutting discs.

If you already have a new seat to ready to go can you pinch a motor from that for now ?

Neil Henderson of Cotswold Bespoke just outside Winchcombe - he's just moved there from Tewkesbury and in there with a nice chap called Chris who really ensures the underneaths of cars are well treated and preserved so the Honda is going in for some tlc

Hi Ken and thanks for the response.

As mentioned in other posts from the electric motor to the gear, that drives the rail back and forth

is a flexible(white tube) drive shaft. if you look under your car seat you will probably see one.

I did manage to take the flexible drive off, and used and electric drill to try and turn the drive shaft and in turn move the seat.

I was successful in as much as when I got the seat forward to a drivable position for me, I stopped

(big mistake)

The next time i tried I must have damaged the gear on the rail, seat will not move any more, even if i change the motor, and that is why I am having to try and change the seat.

Anyway I can drive the car fine, and with numerous shows coming up will just leave it till the years end, Thanks once again I do appreciate you suggestions.

Joe

PS you are right all the motors are the same, and are the same from a Porsche 966

If you swap the little wafers from the old lock barrel into the new lock barrel in exactly the same order, your new lock will work with your old key….

Of course! Thank heaven for this group. Things I would know if asked but when standing at the garage bench at night - mongo’s brain no compute.
Will tackle the wafer swap when I get back home from yet another work trip.

Broke into the GT via the boot. Doors wouldn't open, battery too low. Charged for an hour, Doors open, hesitant start, manoeuvred for a more convenient hook up. 8 hours and she's healthy but not fully conditioned.
This isn't a hangar queen, she's my daily.
I should have heeded the warning sign of progressive degradation, first sign is door touch open failing

Collected the 360 from Audiofile In-car. CarPlay installed and a lot of work completed hooking it all up to the existing two amps and subs, bit of repair work to speaker grills etc.
They even fitted a flush 2 socket USB for charging between the seats.
Exemplary work.

That's tidy, Brian, impressive work. Do you find that having CarPlay feels like it really updates the car? When I had it installed I was very pleased with how much easier it was to listen to whatever music I want, send messages, navigate... all the usual blah blah. Made a heck of a difference.

I've now had a front parking camera installed which gives me forward, straight ahead or left and right views. Again, it's the small things that just add a surprisingly welcome level of convenience.

Now, if anyone offered to retrofit lane assist, they could, frankly, **** right off.

Yes it really does update it. So much easier to navigate, call and of course stream music via apps etc. Got a few road trips coming up so it should come in handy.
Definitely a great upgrade.

Is the motor on the flexible drive not for the height adjustment? The middle motor looks like the fore/aft adjustment to me.

Yes there is a difference between the spyder as i have, and the GTs seats, as the GT seat moves when somebody get in the back seat
