IMO, there's no way that Greece can stay in the Euro in the medium term. The country is being torn apart. Its people made destitute by a cynical effort to save the banks. The Spanish bailout, which last week, according to the Spanish Prime Minister, "would save the Euro", in fact didn't even touch the sides. When Spain defaults, as it surely will, then France goes. Their banks are inextricably linked with the Spanish property debacle.

And, let's not even start on Italy.

What's that Chinese curse? "May you live in interesting times".

Well, we're certainly doing that.

I said some time ago that i do not want to discuss about the situation in Greece anymore, but i have no problem now.

No matter why we are in this situation at the moment, we (Spain, Cyprus, Ireland, Portugal etc) will not get out of the EU. This has not happened before(USSD or Serbia for example), and will not happen, cause it will be the beginning of the end for the Eurozone.

To me it's all a kind of propaganda:The power is with the one who has the mass media:The mass media are with Merkel, Schauble etc etc and here the mass media belong to the politicians that are here for the last 25 years and they also belong to construction or maritime companies, that have straight talks with our politicians...
I feel, all this pressure that Greece gets from the Eurozone is because, WHICH BANK DOES NOT WANT ITS MONEY BACK??? We are a country that is not organised in many many things. As a result, banks and IFSF have fear if they get the money back or not. This is the reason for them pushing us, this is the use of the propaganda.

We did not cook up the numbers to enter the eurozone (as your media say), we are simply unorganised and with a huge bureaucratie.

For the past hundreds of years, Greeks are unorganised, as long as Germans are a land that wants every other land under them. This is a true history and lands will not change as long as people do not change. I am happy, that France is not that close to Germany anymore, cause they'll be destroying the Eurozone, not us only. Greece is 1% of the finacial power of the EU, Germany is 65% (?).HOW can we destroy the EU??

Andy, by us, there is not a sinlge talk that the Euro will go. You see, every country's media tell what they're taught to tell.

Germany is the only Country in Europe, with an economy, that is making money.
Many countries are continuing to borrow money, at the current bottom %, including UK, to pay off monies borrowed at high%
Greece has no real Tax revenue. Highest earner registered, is £90,000 per year! Hello!!?? Money, seems to be all black market, cash is king. So no economy.
France is really bankrupt, but hiding it, very cleverly. Spain, another black market, with cash, most under 25, unemployed. But i see Spain with money, its just stuck under beds.
Spanish people have flocked to the banks, and withdrawn monies from their deposit accounts. This has affected most banks. Only 2 banks in Spain are solid, BBVA, and Santander.
Now we have the Bank of England, offering cheap low interest. A good thing?
Euro is doomed. The money pit has to go. UK, needs to get back onto the free market again, currently blocked by the European Union.

Agree with you totally Andy, beggars belief , and ive been saying for the last five years why IS the UK is so **** bent on doing the majority of its trade within europe , for the previous decades we ve traded with the whole world and i might add very successfully , what we should have been doing is concentrating and subsiding comapnies to start trading a lot more globally , quicker we reduce our reliance on a doomed europe the better

Just another part of the cycle....people have very short memories nor do they read their history. This is the 3rd time monetary union, of a type has been attempted in Europe over the last 150 yrs, invariably it fails because of polictal difficulties, nothing new there then.

So, Greece expects to spend way beyond its means for years, then refuse to pay back its debts and declines any form of restructuring or any meaningful reduction of this reckless spending AND THEN reckons that it will be allowed to stay in the Euro with no questions asked and with the tab picked up by the Germans.

To me, that's the attitude of a stroppy, spoilt teenager.

Good luck with that.

More akin to partisan thinking Elliot , especially from those from the 39-45 era , maybe a sort of payback/getting their own back time ,if so long as its only the germans who suffer, and not the whole of europe

The Germans will do whatever it can to keep the Euro limping on. It will underwrite it in the hope that if it does survive, it will have to be run on German terms; if you control the economy, you control the people. Europe run by the Germans. They may have lost the war but the bastards have won the peace. Hello, fourth Reich.

Spain is supposed to be the fourth biggest economy in Europe. Does that not tell you the state, that the European Union is in??!!
One State, one monetry, does not work. Just take a look at Republic of Ireland. Their economy before they entered the EU, was fair, to good, now its in ruins, dictated by Brussels.

Andy.
