What DON'T you like about your Maserati?

Mr Capes,
Noted that CC isn't a priority - but I have a "spare" 4200 replacement stalk set with CC. Picked it up a while ago as a probable upgrade to a future purchase. The car I'm looking at already has the CC stalks though. The spare is from an Alfa 166 bought via eBay - although I haven't seen it operating the seller had good feedback. If you want it it yours for postage and a pint at The Bell sometime. No problem if not of course

I've only just seen this. I'll certainly have it if it's still available!

- frightening to park in a multi-story - size, turning circle, visibility, clutch (QP V Duoselect) - I drive around for ages looking for a large enough space.
- visibility for reversing
- no heated wing mirrors
- poor wiper rain sensors
- 2-3 seconds check before ready to start (carwash guys always wondering what I'm doing when they ask me to move forward a few feet)
- 12 MPG fuel consumption in London
- London
- SatNav (don't even)
- parking (yes mention it again - freaks me out in London)
- Duoselect first thing on a cold morning (pull out in traffic and she nearly stalls and coughs, and lunges - ugly moment)
- the clutch in London... massively sensitised to all the moments of intense clutch wear (stop start uphill traffic jam etc)
- opening the windows when it's been raining, making a turn and getting a flood of water into the passenger or driver seat (is it designed to do that?)

Yeah. As another London DuoSelect owner I think I could summarise your list as:-

- London
- London
- London

On my manual 4200... the useless handbrake and the shift from 2nd to 3rd can be a bit sloppy... those stupid "one off clips" on the intake manifold (in fact the design of the intake manifold and airbox seem to be an afterthought)... that you need to drop the rear subframe to service certain run of the mill parts i.e. handbrake cables and rear ARB bushes

Agree with those who said that the soft touch plastic coating for the interior was a total fail

I suppose what I really do not like about my car is the wear and tear most people would not care about or just accept but I am slowly working towards restoring and improving/modifying... I guess wear is to be expected from a 15 year old depreciated luxury coupe. I have achieved a lot in less than 3 years of ownership with no workshop... I probably love it more than when I bought it, certainly drives better!

Describing a GTS as a bit big is like saying Donald Trump is mildly annoying....

The size of the GTS is the only reason I occasionally get tempted to change mine...

Yes, but then smaller normally means less seats. So when the outlaws come down for the weekend I couldn't even take them out in the Maserati to ease the pain.

Fair point, but then it gives you the excuse to go on your own and escape them for a few hours! With my outlaws that would be a Win Win...

Just experienced the low Autumn bright sunshine which means the sun visor is moved partially down thereby eclipsing 75% of the rear view mirror

I've never understood why no-one has engineered a rear wiper for saloons/coupes. It really doesn't seem much to ask for, to be able to see out of the back window without wiping it off before you get in. Just think how other car technology has advanced...

Honda Prelude, Subaru Impreza, there’s a few saloons that spring to mind with rear wipers.
