Water, water everywhere and not a drop to use

Hi Guys,
Happy Saturday morning. Thoughts please on my recent problem with my windscreen washer system in my GTS. Basically it stopped working, could hear the pump but water out of the jets - nothing. My indie (Ferrari trained) stripped the system out and found that the water/fluid had turned to gel. 'What washer fluid do you use?' says he 'not Halfords' says I. I use German Kristall Klar additive which I have used for years in various makes and not had a problem. What washer fluids do others use and has anyone had a similar problem?

I use b0g standard cheap stuff. works well and if mixed properly doesn't freeze in winter. Never know washer fluid turn to gel. Not even sure what it would be mixed up with to become a gel.

Scoop it all out, fill up with water and drop a couple of Sterident tablets in and wait

Thank you for your comments. The system has now been completely flushed out and all is working OK. I was really interested in what washer fluid others use.

Some of use still have our own teeth...is there an alternative or do you do it as part of the service?

For the daily drivers I use concentrated screen wash mixed heavily with water….. The Mrs likes the Halfords Concentrated Berry screen wash, has a nice smell.

For the classics I don’t and keep them empty, to save corrosion of the float sensors and pump etc. (The Oldsmobile doesn’t have any washers at all….).

When driving the classics I keep a spray can of glass foam cleaner and use a large micro fibre cloth…. It’s also good for cleaning bugs off.

ISO-Propanol (which is pure alcohol), mixed with water. We use it in the paint factory so costs me buttons.

Good morning and thank you all for your views. I will probably use Halfords in future as I use it for my wife's car.
