Hi I’m looking to get my car delivered for its now long overdue service, & then returned.
It’s a 400 mile round trip.
Several reasons I can’t do the journey myself.
I’m sure this won’t be a cheap exercise, but wondered if anyone had some recommendations for a cost effective service.
Cheers

there are some good transport guys that advertise on ebay, got my discovery collected in London by someone advertising on ebay and did a great professional job, just make sure they are fully insured, if you log on you may find one in your neck of the woods

If anyone needs a car collected from Scotland or to Scotland I have a first class guy who I have used for years. I’m sure @highlander with confirm my guy Jarred is top notch.

Depends where from and to.

London and SE will cost far more than Scotland and the rest of the north.

You may want to see if you can get your car on a return journey. For example my GS is in Bidbury and going down to Sports Italia for a service and other bits and bobs... so the flatbed may end up empty on two trips if I cant fit it in with another load.

Definitely worth listing it on Shiply - it’s just an intermediary site - free to list, and transporter companies can quote on a job. Before accepting a quote you can see their feedback rating, insurance etc, and transporter type (eg open trailer, covered trailer, multi-vehicle). I’ve used it several times, most recently a week ago.

I've listed on shiply a few times and the last time was for a discovery collection in London about 8/9 weeks ago, just got a load of ridiculously high quotes yet again, looked on ebay and found a really nice professional guy for about a third less than the lowest quote on Shiply, never the less it's still worth trying shiply as an exercise in comparing prices

Me too, bought a Shergold Masquerader guitar from Spain, s/h, cos about £250, Shiply quoting £5-600 quid the robbing gets!

Got it done for €30, arrived safely...

If it is coming past Northamptonshire on the way to Matt's it can take two. Not that I have booked in with him yet....

I think it’s hit and miss - it’s cheap if transporters are looking for backloads to avoid an empty outward or return...they try to link jobs together. Worth listing to see what comes up. On the last two jobs I’ve done (sale of my old car and purchase of my GS) it was literally half the price of direct quotes I got - including companies I’d used before. There were a few very high quotes too though!

Be careful who you use on Shiply , I've heard tales of a happy friendly guy collecting your car for it never to be seen again

Hi
I had car collected from Cambridgeshire to Jamie's, they arranged a guy to do it, he was careful. Ask Jamie.

Ive used Shiply several times , its actually quite easy to negotiate with them and play one off against the other , a lot depends on how flexible you are
