Hiya, tyre time again, looking to replace Pirelli P Zero 245/35/ZR20 95Y on the front, 285/30/ZR20 on the rear.

Going Pirelli again even though the wear is a bit rubbish, but any info on great price deals appreciated. Cheers.

If you're a member of the Maserati Club you can get £50 back on two tyres. It's only certain vendors though. I used a fitted BlackCircles quote to get a decent discount off the tyres and then got the cash back from Pirelli.

No idea if it's a good price or not but oponeo have pZero rears for £198 and fronts for £156 though there seem to be loads of variants up to £232 for run flats

I'm generally happy with the grip based on my driving style, but they wear much too fast.

Even though I've had Hunter tracking done, bushes etc. replaced so I know the setup is good, the wear can still be a bit uneven. Consequently I need one front, one rear, so if I change brand I'll need to go for a full set ££££!

Also, I'm considering selling and moving on to a GT soon, and buyers like to see Pirelli P Zero on the rims.

PZeros are really soft tyres, hence the grip (in the warm) and the fast wear. They have a treadwear rating on them anything from 220 (pretty soft) down to 160 (really really soft). Treadwear is a US thing so not all tyres have this label. I tried really hard to source Pzeros with a know n treadwear, but this is not something that garages seem to understand or be interested in. You get whatever they have...

It really shouldn't be, you know

You are better off getting Goodyear Eagle F1 ( 2 or 3 s.) Great tyre as many on here will agree .Great in the wet and dry and hard wearing. They are very reasonable prices on internet websites such as Oponeo and Tyre Leader

Don t know if they are available in tyour size though , you would have to check .

Change tyre my friend. There are novels worth of comments on P Zeros on here. Mostly not good comments.

When I am buying and see P Zeros on the rims, I factor in a change of the whole set and the improvement is great. I had P Zeros on my 3200 when I bought it and changed to GY Eagle F1 and then on my GTS, it had P Zeros and I changed to Conti SC5/6. In both cases, the improvement was dramatic. My Stradale has also come with P Zero Corsas and whilst they are the correct tyre for the car, I will certainly be changing them soon - in cold temperatures and damp roads, they are just horrible. Yes, I could get winters but in my experience, the Conti is a good year round tyre and it has to be blazing hot and bone dry for the P Zero to work well and that so rarely happens here it seems

I dumped the P Zero Corsa's on my Strad as soon as I could. I've gone with Pilot Sports and they are significantly better. When I had the S, I fitted Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's and they utterly transformed the car. I would have fitted them to the Strad but couldn't get hold of any.

PS3/4's I put on my Merc are great, although I find I tend to go round corners somewhat faster than I should.

I put them on my Alfa GT after the Vredesteins wore out and they were great on that as well.

Black Circles I found were the cheapest, and there are loads of places that fit them as part of the cost.

Cheers guys.

Clearly a pattern developing in the replies for moving away from Pirelli Zero, which I think that I'd find difficult to argue against. Perhaps time for a change?

Interesting Yeti. I'm about 2k miles away from needing rears and could probably be persuaded to change all four. I haven't found the Corsa tyres to be as awful as the Neros on my Ghibli which were downright dangerous in colder weather. Always like Vredestein and bought several sets of Sessantas before they change to the Vorti. Also had Pilots too as well as a couple of sets of Contis too, particularly on Porsches.

Trouble with the Corsa is also that they come shod with 7mm of tread against the 8-9mm on all others. Basically they are designed to grip in the right conditions but who really does track days only and above 70deg ?

I am very tempted to change away from the Corsa !! I wonder if as new set of alloys with new tyres - I love the HRE wheels - could be justified by my man maths calculator !!

I haven't noticed any problems with my Pirellis and think there is still plenty of tread on them. However I have used and would recommend Pemberton Tyres in Wigan for several different cars and checked with them a few weeks ago. Price supplied and fitted quote of £915 for all 4. This is for the 20" wheels on the Sport GT

I only have problems with the Pirellis when they are worn, or when its wet, or when its cold.

I managed to get the pair of rear 285/35r20s for £449 fitted. With the £50 back from Pirelli I was happy with that.
