I'm new to the forum, and have done quite a big trawl on tyres and have established that most owners do not like Pirellis, but haven't found the specific info I need. So apologies if I have missed it!
I've had my 2008 QP for about a year now, and the tyres are now coming up for replacement. It is currently fitted (as bought) with Pirelli 235/50 ZR18 101Y both front and rear on original Maserati rims, and I noticed the front hubs on the wheel are slightly different to the rears. This prompted me to check what should be fitted, and I've established from multiple sources it should be 245/45 R18 front and 285/40 R18 rear. The fronts are easy to source.
As I am sure is common knowledge (I didn't know) the rears seem to be a special Pirelli size which is very hard to find, and in second mortgage territory. Plus I don't really like Pirellis either! So what is the general recommendation for a close equivalent on size and reasonable availability? Looking at 275/40 or 275/45 as closest fit, though suspect 45s could be a bit too big. Similarly a 285/35 may be a bit small.
Any recommends on sizes gratefully received.
Also, I will get the suspension alignment checked next time it is serviced, but can I expect any odd behaviours or issues going back to near-correct sizes before I can get that bit done? It has Skyhook suspension. The only slight excess wear is currently the front inners, and not of particular concern.
Thanks in advance.
