Trip from **** but I picked up my MCV today!

It took me 7 train changes and 6 hours to get to Chester from Surrey to pick up the #19 MCV from Richard Grace. Euston was shut so I had to switch train lines to Marylebone and then a sprint across Birmingham city centre to catch a train to Crewe. The trains were completely overcrowded so instead of a first class seat I ended up standing up in the aisle most of the journey. Finally arrived in Chester two hours late to pick up the car at the station and it was in perfect shape. Thank you Richard. 2 hold ups for accidents on the way home meant the journey was more than 6 hours, mostly in the dark. At least it meant that I got to understand how the car will behave in London traffic (not great) and also to appreciate the hard seats (little bit of back ache). Not the dream start I wanted...

But overall it was worth it and I'm looking forward to driving the car in better conditions this week.

Some quick observations (or is it just me?)
- decent amount of wind noise at high speeds from wing mirrors
- wing mirrors quiet small with bad blind spot on passenger side
- basic stereo speakers are pretty poor
- with auto on and sport off the car I would return the car
- car drives much better than my old GT and is as much fun as the GTS but less refined and sharper

Some quick observations (or is it just me?)..... I reckon it is
- decent amount of wind noise at high speeds from wing mirrors..... It's hard to tell with my roof down so I'll take your word for it
- wing mirrors quiet small with bad blind spot on passenger side...... Shoulder checks?
- basic stereo speakers are pretty poor....... I can't hear the stereo over my exhaust so I'll take your word for it
- with auto on and sport off the car I would return the car........ If you drive it like that, I hope you do
- car drives much better than my old GT and is as much fun as the GTS but less refined and sharper...... Fair comment

I hope you start to enjoy it more than you have so far. I wish you well.

Well done on the purchase looked a minter! Not a car to be spending 6 hours in!!! Hope the enjoyment improves and as Benny says, remove the stereo and keep it in Sport! :)

Auto on the GS is a waste of time...Does anyone use it.....Doubt it very much...Same with the QP.....its not great...

One of the worst design points on the QP is that it defaults to Auto mode everytime it's fired up. Just another button to press...

Congrats on the MCV though - hope you get to enjoy it soon as it's meant to be driven! All the CC/DS boxes are poor in traffic, but superb on the open road.

The joys of public transport....

You quickly get over the poor rear/side visibility and adopt the Italian stance of 'What'sa behind me doesn'ta matta'..... Wind noise from mirrors; can't say I've noticed any, probably indicates you were not in sports mode with the valves open :D
In stop/start traffic there is an excuse not to be in sports mode as it does make it less 'lurchy'...

Enjoy it some more on emptier roads and accept the aching muscles in the face from the fixed smile!!!

After two years of owning a CC car in central London I was very happy with the gearbox & clutch. It takes practice and the occasional hour driving round with that embarrassing smell of a cooked clutch, but in the end I could reverse uphill into a parking space with no trouble at all, and staying firm but gentle in traffic (with the occasional drop into neutral for a blip) was difficult to get right, but a pleasure once you get there. Oh, and the only reason for non-sport mode that I found was a couple of roads where the surface was more "quarry floor" than civilised city street...and occasionally when the nipper was asleep and there were lots of speed bumps to navigate.

Awesome car you have there, I hope you get the chance to drive it like the gods of petrol intended!
:)

Thanks all for the comments. Hopefully weather will hold this week. I'm planning on driving down to goodwood on Sunday and hopefully getting it professionally cleaned and protected on Saturday so will post some pics.

Yes put my name down last Jan so it will be a year waiting list. Residuals will be excellent so I don't expect to lose a lot if I sell it after a few years. Getting the diesel version. I have an Evoque now which is a heap of junk. Saying that I paid £40.5k and have been offered £31k by a Land Rover garage (after 3 years and 30k miles) which was the first time I have ever been happy when it comes to selling a car.
