Thanks for all your patience with my relentless questions.
Special thanks to Dicky for taking time on the phone to talk me through key points to watch for when buying used from a private seller.

after one seller took his grey 2012 MC shift off the market the day before I was due to go and see it, I became a little fixated on getting one.

I then found a very local one at a dealer 2016 & out of budget, but I went for a nosy to see how much bigger than my previous 911 they are. (I’m 6’4”). I also had a drive and loved it. (MC Auto) - I then went back to check my 14yo daughter could fit in the back- thumbs up, one of these cars will fit into my life.

Paid for a mobile inspection on a black 2010 MC shift that I hadn’t seen- with new clutch, brakes etc but bad condition subframe & poor paint. The paint was one extra issue I didn’t want to deal with.

I then started to question if I definitely wanted MC shift, having never driven one. So I drove a white 2009 car an hour away from me.
It had the handling pack & full carbon exterior & interior packs, but 70% clutch wear and several niggles (gearbox often popped out of 5th).
It drove really nicely, so I was happy that I didn’t want to drive the older auto box. Also equally happy with skyhook or handling pack suspension.

I then spotted this on Autotrader- over budget but stunning.100645

it was MC shift & had the newer seats! Full leather too. The facelift bumper I could take or leave, but the colour and seats are what did it for me.

apparently Rosso Trionfale paint was a £7k option - can anybody confirm?

Tested it on Sunday, PPI at Nuvola on Wednesday, which identified cam cover gaskets as the main item requiring expense, with a few other minor things to sort.

I’ve just brought it back to the midlands from London got 26mpg on cruise control, which could be worse.

when I got off the M1 I went into sports mode and enjoyed the larini x-pipe.

thank goodness it fits in the garage. (Although the parking sensors go to a constant beep with over a foot of distance away, so I’ll have to fit some blocks to the floor or something

I’ll probably update this thread with my questions about how to sort the smaller issues.

Anyway have some more pics (from the ad), I’ll take some once I’ve started on the detailing journey, the paint needs a little love.

yes - it is subtly modified. Wing mirrors, wheels, boot lid strip, rear lights, and that Larini!

I don’t know how long I’m going to be able to resist doing some tunnel runs - but they’re about 20 miles away.

Nice I was just looking at this on Autotrader as well.

I don’t suppose anyone knows how to sort out rattling window switches in drivers door?

Can I insert some felt between them or something?
are they from the FIAT parts bin?

Cheers

If Richard has guided you through the buying process then you have been in good hands and know what to expect. Looks a great example and love trionfale, looks even better in the flesh. Will keep an eye out for you in the East Mids

Congrats lovely looking car.

When you say about blocks on the floor. The other option is hang a tenis ball on a string from the ceiling so that when the car is parked in the garage exactly where you want suspend it so it just touches the rear / front screen depending on if you drive in or reverse in. After it been set up you just have to drive or reverse in until the tennis ball just touches the screen and your perfectly parked.

Great looking car. Particular like the black boot strip which looks so much better than the chrome strip. Enjoy.

Any GT in Trifonale or Sophisticato is gorgeous in my books. Such great colours. Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy!

So pleased it was the colour that grabbed you - I always thought that was a 'girl' thing but glad to be wrong. Enjoy the car.

Is it definitely the switch that is rattling? Have you been able to recreate it by moving the switches gently? I had a creak from the driver’s door. I had to remove the armrest panels and realised the creak was rubbing between the inner door trim and door. Silicone lubricant spray sorted it out.

if it is the switch, then the pivot studs on one of the switches may be broken, so the switch moves around. The switch has a removal top panel which allows you access to the switches themselves. If the piece is still there, you can glue it back or fabricate one (needs a bit of careful gluing technique). Otherwise it’s an expensive replacement.

Like James May is apt to say on occasion. I definitely felt a fizz, looking at those images.
What an absolutely stunning looking piece of automotive sculpture.
(I couldn't just call it a car. That'd be like calling Scarlett Johansson, totty)

Food, women and cars. What an awful Orwellian world we'd be living in, if it wasn't for
the, mad as a box of frogs, Italians!

I wanted to see what mpg I could get on cruise control on the M1. Wet conditions and Pzero tyres so I took it steady.

26mpg - I don’t think I’ll top that.
