According to Marshall Maserati, launch will be late summer (THIS summer) and starting at c£55k.
They have taken some deposits already and are confident of the launch happening with more news to follow this year's Geneva show

Bet even though it's launched this summer you won't see a customer in their own car until 2017.

Very probably so - Tim at Marshall's on Tuesday seemed to think they probably wouldn't see a demonstrator in their showroom before the end of Q3 2016.

Still think this is a massively big mistake in direction for Maserati. Yes, I get the "wanting a piece of the exclusive SUV pie" but I don't see a good outcome from this. Either it is successful and they then decide to make more of the same because cash in the bank is king, or it flops and takes future plans for financing new low number sales cars that we like with it.........

It's a joke, should have done it years ago with the kubang... It's only going to sell to Jemima, for her to run Tarquin and Araminta to prep school. After her husband chopped in the Range Rover

Summer or even late summer seems rather optimistic if its still under wraps undergoing development.

Porsche can only build the GT4 on the back of the Cayene. So why not let Maser build their Cayene equivalent if it means we can then enjoy the Alfieri (or similar)?

And yes, I may change one of my Range Rovers for one of these to take my kids to prep school. I don't think it'll be a problem - I'm sure they'll get used to it.:)

I'm interested in seeing it as it will give Maserati more profile and help the brand survive - surely all those who are negative on it must want that?

In no way would it replace my GT but it could have a role in my life. Personally I would prefer a 4WD Ghibli wagon but that will never happen which is a bigger shame IMHO. All depends how much it costs with the right options and after discount...plus boot size, Cayenne et al are actually quite small.

Why am I negative on it? I fear like many that this and other run of the mill cars will become the mainstay of the brand with the sports cars playing second fiddle if at all. My ultimate fear is it will end up like jaguar. Some great racing history but now dependent on mainstream saloons and 4x4s with a smattering of sporty cars whos brand still has a tarnished image of Arthur Daily and my Grandads slippers.

I also remember the bi-turbo years...ok the brand survived but at what cost.

Peter, I fear that you are going to be proved right.

Accountants and shareholders run companies now so cash is king at the sacrifice of the brand.

Let's for now, just enjoy our current range of V8's...the golden age cars.

If Maserati feck it all up I for one will go in search of that golden age again, and let's face it, it was due to the prancing horse over the road.

Spot on, we all have a dig at Ferrari here and Ferrari there had it not been for Di Montezemolo then we wouldn't have had the cars that most of us drive right now! They certainly transformed Maserati from a brand of boxy and unreliable cars to some of the most modern and stylish V8's on the road even today.
