Hi all

I would would appreciate any of your views on this:

http://www.craigpettitmotorsales.co...0-cambiocorsa-2dr-northampton-201408226801934

Local to me and went to look today. Not driven yet. It was stolen in 2007 and recovered but owner had it written off (he was an insurer md). Guy who owns it now has had it for 4 years and done 500 miles. It comes out to get MOT!

Not seen service history yet but it is limited due to mileage. It hasn't had annual but has had oil changes etc. waiting to see any invoices. The bad bits are drivers door is heavily chipped on edge and front seats look very dry, cracked and like they have done more than 22k. Front wing has had paint also.

Thoughts on current price would be good. I am thinking bit high for cat d and also low miles may mean plenty of failures to come. Clutch was last read at 32% so should be ok.

Obviously will have a ppi before going to far with it.

Thanks people.

It's not been serviced, it's not been driven, it's got chipped doors, and had wing repair, clutch figure is very, shall we say , vague. If it was me I'd be wary,if it's the one for you then inspection a definate.

I would say that car is at least 7000 to much if it's a cat d general rule it is worth about 3/4 of retail price even if it wasn't a cat car and in the confition described it would only be worth 12000 13000 , mint 14000 to. 15000 maybe . So if you have that budget you should be able to get a minter

Agree with the above.....Far too much money....... I would keep looking unless they can sell for at least 5k less...

Things I don't like : they describe it as Mint yet you say it has damage and bad paintwork.

It's sat around for years without a service, maybe if the oil has been changed every year, that's not too bad.

It has a stick-on "4.2" badge on it (!?)

That plate makes me want to treat the driver like he's driving something loud and German...or at least smack him round the chops with a salmon!

The price is too high.

My feeling is you didn't feel confident about it, and that says a lot.

Go and find a 10 foot barge pole, then don't touch the car with it!

Nasty Audi badges, dreadful number plate, dodgy history and a facelift front bumper which could suggest accident damage. Avoid!!

Fingers will need to be examined by a burns specialist...frome your own observations, the history (or lack of) and the add...the cars a dog.

Cheers all. Pretty much everything I thought and glad to say learnt from you guys.

The badges shouted uh oh. The reg is being removed to go onto something else!
As it was I was there to look at a car for the mrs and that is pretty good. The 4200 is being sold on a friends behalf and they know nothing about them.

The search will continue.

It's easy to buy a nice 4200 for, say, £14k. How on earth did you manage to find this option!?

Dropped in to look at an Audi for the wife and it was parked beside it. Coincidence I thought and then the story came and a quick look rang alarm bells straight away. But I thought I would just check with those with more experience to confirm.

Run away as fast as you can.

I have a proper Cat D with absolute full history on the damage, story, repair etc but so many cat cars have more to them so it's a dangerous game. They can be bargains of priced well but you need to know what you're doing.

It should be about 11k with that story and lack of history. You'll do in 2k more servicing it properly. What's the point?

All been said above, too much money for a car with too much unclear history - there are better out there, keep looking
