Its a one off guys...not heard of it happening before.

Sympathy for you Joe and your very bad luck, hate to think it could happen again to anyone, and sorry it had to happen to you.

How did the channel get blocked....did you get a full report on it?

Hope things ease after a while and things don't look so bad, cheers,

I can reiterate the one off theory - Emblem themselves said they have never seen anything like this before.

We have no idea how it happened. The engine would have to be removed and stripped to find out. That in itself is an expense that for me, at this stage, cannot be justified.

Its a great pity Joe.....something none of use like to hear about. Chatting a few indies, they all state how robust the actual engines are, especially the 4200 engine.

It always seems to be the ancilliaries that give bother....not the engine.

Once again....good luck!

Joe, thanks for taking time out to post. Sound like a very bad experience which I hop has not put you off the marque too much...Truely gutted for you. Sounds as if the car may live again which is one good thing. Thanks again.

What terrible luck, on such low mileage too. I don't live far from Joe which made my wallet twitch for a minute!!! Wouldn't take much to drop the sump and look at the oil and bottom end to give you a bit of hope about only having to find a couple of heads to swap over...

I rate Emblem very highly but their labour rate does add up - might be worth speaking to Mike Roberts, he is excellent value and knows his onions.

Re the 4200's and GS's - a bit unfair as 3200's are all quite a bit older, I think a few ten year old GS's might go pop from time to time too. Plenty of folks have run up 100k in 3200's with regular maintenance only.

Dealer in Belfast...and in the region with lowest average wage,s charge a London type hourly rate of £147 incl VAT....brill huh?

P

that is rediculous, so a basic annual service which is oil and filters would cost over 300 quid, robbing ba5tards.

where do they get 4 hours labour for an annual service, i could change the oil, filters, brake discs and pads in that time. I have done it before whilst under supervision from one of the technicians. 4hours is a p1ss take. What does the 32K service consist of?

Mike Roberts charges £399 for an annual 4200 service according to his website, with no VAT.

The 32000 mile service includes all ancillery belts and spark plugs and all fluids, gear and drive etc replaced, all filters and engine oils, and a "total system reset" that makes the car feel real good for a few weeks(better than the standard battery reset) carbon canisters and Lambda sensors are extra.
They also check the brakes and note whats not genuine Maserati wipers, reset the handbrake and do all the other stuff you can think of like putting some rain repellant gunk on the windscreen that just makes the screen smear in the wet at night.
They clean the car inside and out as well.(NOT!!)
They also break clips, forget to top up the power steering fluids, dont bother to reset PIS points and forget to put air intake and manifold pipes back together correctly (and all at no extra cost...Fab!!)
Just kidding..its a large service and is repeated on the 46000 service as well but without the need for carbon canisters and lambda sensors.

P.s i will me getting Emblem or Mike Roberts to do the works on my car in the future... if it does not sell.
