Hi

Under pressure from she who needs to be obeyed to get a more practical car.

Wanted to check what platform have people had most success selling please

I have a 4200 that was born in 2004. It has about 65k on the clock. 12 months mot and just serviced.

Seats have been done. Xpipe installed and has Bluetooth kit.

What do people think it would fetch? Mercedes think £8,500 :(

I would have thought a few £k more than that. Try a few trade websites to get a bottom line value.

A private sale would do better than above but will take a while.

Ouch, that's taken straight from the GLASS book, way off the mark. Unfortunately insurance valuations are also being taken from that book of fiction! Not a reflection upon actual values and sadly you will never realise anything like the market value on a trade in as they will all refer to that. You should be between £12-16k easily with that mileage. Mine had paint issues and 76,000 and I had an agreed value of £16k last year.

So many items that effect price;
Service history, Clutch, Colour, Trim etc etc. These can add or detract a grand or two.

Good luck with the sale.

I think they use Webuyanycar valuations now!

I gor 8.5k trade in on mine. And I think they sold it for 11.5k

They are a hard sell privately that's for sure and as Geoff says a £11.5k for his old car at a reputable dealer with a warranty for a similar age and mileage car with a new clutch etc.... Good luck!

Mine is the same year and milage with a brand new clutch and a new MOT and ill be selling mine for at least £16k. I got offered 12k from an Alfa dealer to trade it in in so Merc are way off . You will never get the true value if you trade your car. Sell it privatly for £15 - £16k

Is yours a face lift model ?

Prices seem to be on the up , if we all listen to the scare mongery we will be given these cars away ,it's about time we all stood fast and relies the true value of our cars ! On auto trader prices for genuine cars start around 16k . Of course colour and spec can determine price plus new clutch's , service history etc . I would say your car should be advitised around 18k and the same with Sparts. If I see a car cheap it's cheap for a reason and not the good sort of reason !!!! I will be advertising mine next week to so good luck to every one .

Mate I agree but just because there are cars on AT at £16k doesn't mean they sell on AT at £16k. I've had mine for sale for a year starting at £18k and dropped it to £13k and it's still not sold.

Totally agree mate but you have to start some where , advitise your car for 12k and there will want a grand off straight away , 11k for a sorted 3200 or 4200 is just stupid ! I would rather keep it than sell for that . I suppose what I was trying to get at is 4 of us are selling our cars and if we all advitise them on auto trader at 14k than we weekend the market when there is only 12 cars currently for sale .

Thanks for all the replies Webuyanycar has valued at 10800 so interesting how Merc can value so low.... clearly not wanting the business

To be fair normal car garages don't want specialist sports cars . They have a limited market and can hide big hidden costs so they massively under price them . It does n't mean that they are nt worth twice as much to the right enthusiast .

Merc would either sell it to a indi garage who under wrote the cars value or just sent to auction.

Merc would pass it off on the trade through trade auction site. Have you considered approaching a reputable Maserati indi in your locality to market and sell it for you on a commission basis (sale or return)? That will probably get you the best price. I have no idea how much its worth as I don't know the history or condition, but a good indi will give you a fairly accurate view I think. I don't think these are easy cars to sell privately - even though it is sub-£20k.

Are you the chap named Mr Wilde who I advised prior to purchase and live near Chester? If so, more than happy to help you out. If not, I'm more than happy to help you out anyway.

Try a Maserati indie, I bought a 4200, same year from a reputable Indie located in Shepherd's Bush, even though I live in Chester. It did have a bit less mileage and a new clutch and came with 12 months warranty, and paid 20 K for it. So assuming he made a decent profit, he must have also paid a decent price to the last owner, I'm sure there are many on here who know who I am referring to, just not sure if advertising on the site is accepted. Pm me if you need any info, cheers.

Absolutely agree, as someone who has recently bought. Prices at 12-13k and all the cars I looked at where terrible. The good ones start at 16k, really nice and something to make them a bit rare (e.g. The manual I found) and you are near 20k.

What you have to remember is that the market is very small, but when the right enthusiast comes along, and if your is good, then it will sell.

I think it is a face-lift as it has the face-lift alloys and the ariel is on the roof, I maybe wrong but I think the Classico's had the ariel on the rear wing. I can't make out the bumper.
