Thinking of buying a Quattroporte GTS 2009

Hi all, I've been trying to find a good condition Maserati here in HK.

Most of the cars here do not have service history, so I have been reluctant to buy another one. I have found a Quattroporte GTS 2009 in very good condition and full dealer history. The car history looks like it had a very easy life for the first 4 ish years then someone put on quite a few miles over the next few years by Hong Kong standards. It has 62,000 KMS at the moment. The price of main dealer servicing and repairs here are huge, the car has had a new prop shaft, steering rack and only last year new aircon, which is great news as European cars air cons don't last in Asia. I'll try and enclose some pics and the service history and would appreciate any advice before purchasing as I'm not that familiar with the QP.

As QPs go, this is the best model in the most popular colour. Full main dealer history with regular spending on big ticket items, so clearly it has been maintained in a money-no-object style. So if the price is right, buy it. You are unlikely to find a better one easily.

What he said! I haven’t had a chance to go through what appears to be a very comprehensive service history above, but for added piece of mind get it inspected by a specialist if you can - search ‘subframe’ on here and you’ll find a plethora of horror stories, and it’s essential it’s not too badly corroded.

‘High’ mileage didn’t put me off my GTS, but it would have done if it didn’t have a full service history.

cheers guys, It's booked in for an inspection on Thursday so fingers crossed.

It certainly comes across as money has been no object in maintaining it, quick calculation is about 48 thousand pounds have been spent on it. Also, 62000 KMS is approx 38,000 miles so not that bad I guess for a 10 year old car.

Not that i'll ever know why, but has anyone had to replace their prop shaft and steering rack before?? I was thinking it might have been in an accident etc.

An inspection should highlight that... and a casing example, the first GTS I had inspected had been in an accident... but the repair job was of very, very high quality. No mention of it in the sales ad :)

In the research I did before buying mine I don't recollect references to prop shafts and steering racks - mostly subframes (condition of), and variators (check the engine number).

The engine number is M139S150655 which I believe is ok. I'll get the garage to inspect the subframe but luckily here in HK we don't get any rust, too **** hot for that.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing these service records. 2015/16 looked pretty frequent visits in the shop. Also HK prices for parts are practically double those in the UK.

Just make sure the inspecting garage pay extra special attention to front upper bushes and the mounting point in the subframe with special attention to the triangular box section between the onboard securing points.

On one of the upper inner bushes, there are two marks that should line up. If they don’t then the bush is ripped internally and failed.
