The backlight on my Airwolf has stopped. Which is a PITA. More of a PITA is that Luxury Watch Repairs have had to send to to Breitling. I may have to bend over. Still, them's the breaks.

My Carrera went wrong a couple of months ago and Watches of Switzerland had to send it to Tag for repair. Only heard today that it’s been fixed and ready for return!

Sounds about right .... one of my Tags was sent back for a battery and pressure test and it took 6 weeks!!

Yes, not unusual, although when you see what they do, it's not surprising.

I wonder if I can use this as an excuse to sneak another past Mrs C. Perhaps chip in my Cartier for a Cartier I actually like ;)

Just got mine back after a battery, new dial, crown & seal. 4 months @ TAG!

Not impressed. Especially as I had the same work done 4 years ago!

That would be like buying a car that is sensible :)

Anyway (nearly) all of my watches keep time to a level far greater than I need. Just sometimes they need fixing (Bit like a Maser that's far faster than I'd need and sometimes needs expensive care) ;)

I had an entry level Formula 1 in rubber, the strap cracked and failed 3 times (approx. £90 new strap) and every time it was in exactly the same place! I got talking to a gentleman in the TAG shop who had the same problem with the same watch! We questioned the salesman about this. He admitted that this was a design fault that had been noted by TAG, however, they refused to help us out in anyway!.........That was the first and last TAG I have owned...

Yes. To be told that previous substantial fixes are only guaranteed for 12 months, and there's no help towards doing the job again by customer service manager, does tarnish my view of the brand.

Love my watch, and pleased with the first 20 years of ownership, but may have to retire it, as I don't think I should be expected to take a "200 Meter" watch off when I shower!

Are they saying that? Every one of my watches is pressure tested and warranted (LWR again)

No - I exaggerated for effect.

But they did say I should get it pressure tested every 2 years. Personally, I think I should expect a seal to be guaranteed not to fail for a little longer than that.

(and when I say little, I mean 'lot'!)

Hmm, tricky one. Pressure testing doesn't mean it's failed but it does reduce the risk of you getting it damaged. It's unlikely the seal will fail to the point of screwing your watch in the shower in 2 years, but you'll be aware of any gradual degradation.

I'm of an age where there has to be night and day contrast between the hands and the background. I'd have real trouble with that. @MarkMas 's new Bell & Ross is more to my liking from a usability point of view, but personally prefer a round case which they don't do. Was it them or someone else also echoing the station clock look?

I was quite tempted by the black-on-black phantom. But then I decided I wanted to be able to tell the time.
