just a quick one, noticed in the handbook that there is a battery off switch, will this reset the ECU error codes ? or dose the ECU remember them. if I can is it just a switch off count to 20 and back on - sound like IT support :)

I have an error code which won't allow the car to start - the code is reporting over temp ? its been in the garage all night ?

I'm sure one of our guru's will be along shortly Enzo but there wouldn't be any harm in giving it a whirl.... Cirtainly to reset most things on these you leave it off for a full 20 minutes (don't fully close the boot or it won't unlock & you will have to find the release wire under the rear seats! and just drop your windows 1/2" otherwise you risk breaking them if you slam the door or try to open it and they catch!.

The switch is a round black knob about 40mm diameter and sits just above the front of the battery in the right hand boot compartment, just twist for off or on.

If you fancy resetting the throttle for yourself when you restart it leave it iddling with no throttle at all for 10 minutes then take it for a drive like you stole it! It will alter the response to suit your style!

Hopefully the battery reset will do just that , and everthing will be back to normal , has the car been standing long , the longer you can leave the battery off the better 20mins to half an hour is good , as Newton said drop the drivers window a tad , if you need to get onto the car for any reason , the doors will still lock manually with the key as will the boot whilst the battery is disconnected . the error code will still be logged , so if the problem persists , then its sd/2/3 to determine whether you may have a dodgy/ stuck sender or sensor, lets us know how you get on

Cheers Loz, I was struggling a bit as (touch wood) other than loosing MSP on my first drive I've not had a single error or code to deal with!

is that how you reset the GS??

leave idling then thrash it?? i want one!!

Yes dem, to reset the throttle position and sensertivity driving /style of throttle response , it records/adapts to the first 100 miles from a reset , i can notice a remarked difference when i do it , but the difference soon disappears when your in full flow and becomes normal once again

just got in and checked the car, the engine light is still on but good news is the GS started ?

good point on the window, lowered this and left boot open, battery switched off, 25 mins and counting...

the error code will still be logged

just read this, so doing this won't reset / clear the ECU ?

The error code will still be logged on the ecu , but the system will be reset , if the temp sensor actually has got a fault then it will show itself by another cel (hopefully not) the minute you turn the ignition on and start the car

took the car out yesterday and all seems great - thanks all

took your advice and drove hard and found out that yep - brakes not great with all the round abouts in MK almost had a new sculpture in MK, Loz maybe I need some of your drift training :)

cars back at home, just a few things to sort out, I've taken part of the dash and door panels off to get part numbers - now just need to get the parts from Maserati or breakers (if I'm lucky)
