I go through phases with films, always have done - been watching an awful lot of Italian 'Giallo' and 'Politzia' stuff from the late '60s and '70s lately, the odd few are a bit duff but most are actually very watchable and it's great seeing how places like Rome, Milan and Turin looked back then. The cars of course are a big draw, Alfas, Fiats, Lancias everywhere, you do see the odd exotic in the background but there are quite a few of these films which have Lambos, Masers and Ferraris as the main car (check out the 'Lamborghini Scenes' channel on youtube for instance). The soundtracks are occasionally better than the films themselves, adding to the period charm, Ennio Morricone didn't just do spaghetti westerns and some of his best work was on these cult horror and police thrillers.

Also well into the more gritty classic British stuff like 'Robbery', 'Villain', 'Get Carter', 'The Long Good Friday' etc - a mate of mine and a few people I used to work with were involved in the filming of 'Robbery' back in '67 so it's long been a favourite...

D326 was the loco in the robbery, Class 40....

It was also jinxed for some reason, aside from the mail train robbery in '63 it was also involved in two fatal collisions and a young train crew member was killed when he climbed onto the nose to clean the cab windows whilst under the 25kv overhead wires. It was cut up in '83 with strict instructions from the BR Board that nothing was left of it for souvineer hunters to blag. Here's a shot of my late pal Roger Gilbert posing in the cab in '64...

I'll be driving over the bridge where the robbery took place tomorrow with a Wembley - Crewe job!

Just watched a film everybody should go and see

Official Secrets

Fantastic cast and totally gripping right to the end , one of the best films I've seen this year but those based on fact usually are

As opposed to Gemini Man ,I missed 20 minutes because I fell asleep , sadly 10 people watching official secrets, Gemini man 2/3 full
You got a film pass or sumfink?

Odeon Limitless , they've just converted ours to a luxe and I live a 5 minute walk from it

I didn't like it at first because it's all allocated seating and it's busy but I've got it sussed now

22 minutes of adverts etc , at the back there's 2 single seats for wheelchair users friends so I walk in just as it's starting and bingo , a seat on my own.

I've had a limitless pass for the last 3 years , not once have I seen anyone in a wheelchair , obviously I'd move if somebody did come in but as the film is starting it's unlikely

I just download off magnetdl, it's free fuk it. Not see a Hollywood film I'd deem worth paying for for ages, however if I d/l something indie or funny or exciting TV or film and pay for it hence a shitload of oddball stuff in my iTunes Library...

But I begrudge paying for a 'blockbuster' that turns out to be same old same old and not being able to get my money back cos it was ****.

Things are different now.

We have Netflix and amazon prime. A lot of stuff is remakes or rehashes. How many spiderman films were they?

JOKER, what superb film even the wife was rivetted to the screen, Joaquin must surely get and win some nominations for this

Countdown , walked out after 30 minutes

Terminator dark fate

I don't know how they did it but there's a scene with Linda Hamilton , her son and the terminator but as they all were in terminator 2, it must be CGI , if it is they're at the point they can realistically recreate actors

The film is garbage though

Just watched JOKER and wow! If you haven't seen it just go. Phoenix is utterly brilliant. Devastatingly sad and depressing but stunning in equal measures

Definitely on my list.

We watched Laundromat last night. Fast, witty and smart. Cracking cast, too.

That’s very achievable now. Almost disturbingly so.

Went to watch the Joker last night. Film of the year my ****!

I was genuinely bored for the first 90 minutes and tempted to leave the cinema. Last 30 minutes was good but not enough to redeem.

IMO over-hyped shite.
