The best reaction you ever had to your Maserati?

This was my favourite
When i went down to Chichester we drove through the Hindhead tunnel. I kid you not, a driver of another car literally hung his head of the window doing a sort of head bang whilst giving me the thumbs up. Mrs Rossyl could not stop laughing as the whole tunnel was filled with the sound of a roaring V8.

A white van even pulled up to me after the tunnel to give me the thumbs up.

Maserati - providing happiness to the masses!

Must admit to never really noticing much reaction, too busy driving I guess. Did make me smile once. Think I was on the way back from Bedford aerodrome and some teenager gestured to wind window down as I stopped at a junction. He then shouted "nice car mate" to which I nodded an acknowledgement. He followed up with "shame about the colour". Made me smile.

The young lad sounds like a tw*t TBH with you. You didn't ask for his opinion, so why should he insult you for no good reason! :( You handled it well.
Although I prefer my cars in black, that's just me, some cars look awesome in bold colours (I just don't think they suit me however). From your avatar pic, yours looks stunning. The vibrant colour against the B&W makes it really stand out :goodjob: What colour is it BTW?

I'm (fingers crossed) picking up my Maserati this weekend and I'm a little curious as to the kind of reaction my new car will receive.

I know from experience these kind of threads always give you that feel good factor because you own a car everybody loves. So what's the best response your car has ever received? Or what kind of reaction does it usually get?

I doubt I could be anymore excited but this thread may just help fan the flames somewhat :excellent:

A double thumbs up from a bus driver coming in the opposite direction whilst letting me though on my very first day of ownership.

My kids tell me that people nearly always stare or pass comment, but I never seem to notice!

A few thumbs up, and waiting at lights and a girl with her boyfriend pointing open-mouthed at it - he was trying to ignore it as I think he was getting a little bit of an inferiority complex from it.

Perhaps the most interesting was at Chicago airport immigration. Waiting in the endless queue, and finally get to the counter. As usual, the rubber gloves are going on ready for whatever inspection they deem appropriate. The guy went through all the usual questions and asked what industry I was in:

Me: "the automotive industry"
Him: "Oh, so you're a car guy then?"
Me: "well, I suppose so"
Him: "what car do you drive?"
Me: "a Maserati"
Him: "Oh yeah, you're a car guy. Let me tell you about my Challenger - i've just fitted.......etc...etc..."

Basically, a few minutes passing the time, and no problem to get into the country (not that there should've been, but you know how they can be!)

Only one adverse reaction ever - at a petrol station and some low life clearly telling his Mrs what he thought of me / my car as I was getting back in, judging by the pointing fingers. Nice. But heh, there's always going to be an exception somewhere along the lines.

Ironically while reading this thread 2 lads (from the RSPCA who are lout touting for sponsors) just knocked on the door and were more interested in chatting to me about the Maserati than getting me to sign up to sponsorship.

I've been asked about the car many times while out, but most memorable was having paid for petrol I returned to a find a girl taking a photo of the car. Another time at a patrol station, a lady waited for me to start up and told me what a beautiful car and beautiful sound! If only I was 27 again and single....:capricorn:

Enjoy the Maserati Conrad!

To be honest it was a dull day, and even I thought it looked a bit meh (hate that "word" but pretty apt) when the sun wasn't out. On a sunny day however it looked just utterly stunning. Still missing it :(
rame ghibli or copper in English. Three in the world and the others have happy lives in sunnier climes where no one ever thinks they're brown :)

I don't have any to recount myself but when my cousin first got him Gallardo, he was in a service station and when he returned to his car he was greeted by a couple of West Country lads who said 'I bet you get plenty of fanny in that'
He didn't quite know how to react but took it as a compliment anway!

Two very recently made me chuckle.
1: In the boys section of my 13 year old daughter school, from an account given by someone on the school bus.Lad number one "what do you think of Hannah, she's well hot ain't she?" Boy number two " Yeh, but even better ,her dads got a fxxxxing Maserati!"!!!!!
And the second was whilst doing a demo in the Noble M400 at a car meet last weekend, where when I accelerated the chap in the passenger seat exclaimed that he'd just accidently swallowed his chewing gum!!

Quite a lot of positive reaction to the Ghibli over the years I had it, but two that stand out.

1. Asked to take a mate to his wedding in it (bride was already there, so there was no white roller for her!);

2. The day before I sold it, parking it in the car park for the company I was contracting to, a chap came over and said "I don't normally wander over to strangers in car parks, but, I've got one of these at home. It's in much worse nick than this!" - turns out he had a biturbo-era Spyder and a Ghibli that he was planning to restore over time. Had a couple of catch ups since, good chap.

I don't normally drive it to work, only on the odd day. The one bad reaction I had really also came when I'd driven to work (this time becuase I was working away from home and handily close to an indy who could do the service it needed). They said rather loudly in the office "Did I see you driving in in a Maserati this morning Martin? Yeah, I thought so - we must be paying you far too much money." Excuse me, how much did your brand-new Audi cost to buy and how much is it going to be worth in 3 years? The Ghibli I bought for £11.5k doesn't look in any way extravagant in those terms but nobody likes to look at it like that. It didn't help that I was there as part of an outsourcing team though so I probably could have thought it through a bit more and been more discrete.

The worst reaction I ever had was when I was filling my old 3200 at a petrol station. A bloke walked past, did a double take and then said to me "nice Aston, mate"
I gave him the smile you might give to any simple person and carried on.

I can do better than that Mark. I was in my BMW z4mc in a petrol station and a work contact strolled over and pointed to the "M" badge and said "When did you start working for Mitie"

I promptly removed at M badges from the car which happened to also make it look better!

Whilst struggling to fit all my Christmas shopping in the boot of my 360 Modena a guy walking past smirked as he said to his wife 'not all its cracked up to be being a flash *******'.
He then jumped into his Audi, arm over the passenger seat, looking through the rear window..... and shunted forwards 12 inches into the wall in front.

That was a pretty good reaction.
