I don't think spending more cash is any kind of guarantee though. I think you just need a chunky war chest for a GT, or a warranty (I'm about to make a profit on mine this year if what I think is happening is happening)

If you look at what's happened on mine, none of which would have been caught by servicing..

Exhaust manifold cracked
Reg / rectifier gone
Oil pressure sender weeping
Cracked front spring
Cracked rear spring
Front ABS sensor
Airbag deactivation switch

Now some of those things might have been caught in a service, but Dick Lovett had it last before I bought it so I'm not at all confident. I will be sending it for annual checkups, that's for sure!

If I recall Contigo's was a lot more than mine (although his is MC clearly) and it's had a similar load of warranty work?

Sometimes there is a linear relationship with money/quality but sometimes it's just luck!

Mine had variators done before I even agreed a sale so if they are not factored in it has had a clutch, EPB ecu and new rear discs and shoes. I had a warranty contribution to a headlight at an eye watering £1500.

My GTS had an excellent service history and really wanted for nothing, it was supplied by Nuvola prior to me buying it from them again and yet whilst in the warranty period it still had a radiator, ABS sensor/wheel bearing, air con compressor, EPB shoes all replaced. It really is luck of the draw I think
