SW Meet proposal

Is it about time that we had a meet in the SW or west country?
I drive around for hours and rarely see another Maserati and when i do i am so taken aback i forget to wave and before i know it the cars gone and i feel they may think i snubbed them.
Course if i had fair warning and they were not nose to tail in heavy traffic i may have a chance to wave furiosly as they(or rather I) go by.
I offer a solution to my own and possibly others dilemma regarding this and sugest a meet in the glorios Devon countryside at a venue here http://www.waieinn.co.uk/
The cost of accomodation is fair and the setting is one of the best with plenty of space and protection for your car.
It does food and ales and is a huge place with swimming pool and sports facilities. The food is great and also cheap and i go here quite a lot for the "Farmhouse gril"l which comes out on a plate almost the size of a maserati alloy!!
There is something for everyone here and as stated in another thread its right next to the Bikers route A377 to Barnstaple which is a great road to drive out on and back along the A386 towards hatherleigh/okehampton and eventually the A30 which is about 5 miles further on from hatherleigh.
these are the most voted roads in the devon area in most bikers magazines and i would guess that this translates to sports cars as i drive them occasionally just for the pleasure.
I am fairly sure that i can get group booking discounts and also get a section of the rear of the carpark reserved for all our cars.
I would be more than happy to arrange this or let someone else on the forum do bookings but as i said i am known by the Inn.
If you are more northerly based i recommend this as a good weekend getaway and if you dont like it after the first night, then you could always find something more to your own tastes nearby.
It is a great central Devon Base.
If you wish to see more images of the carparks and grounds i can go out and take some snaps with the D3 so you get a better "feel" of the place.
Also dont forget that there is a small resevoir for fishing on the grounds.

Well done Adam..... it's great that there seems to be more emphasis on regular Maserati meetings..... and they should cover the whole of the UK. So I hope your plan comes off mate

Hi Adam, sounds like a good plan. I'm just across the border in taunton, and like you very rarely see another maserati. Would be good to have a meet down this way

Have to see what interest is generated Steve.
I think that New forest maserati Dan kinda started this off and i just wanted to nominate a decent location where perhaps others from the midlands and so on would come down and make a weekend of it.
I am sure we could do some nice driving roads with interesting destinations and maybe even stop off for lunch and a drink halfway to somewhere.
But would need a few people to make it viable really,so as i said see what Dan says and the other members.

Yep I'm interested. Fridays are best for me. With regards location, maybe find out the number of interested people and their locations and pick somewhere in the middle. The Haynes museum might be a good place to meet, plenty of decent roads on the way there and I have heard a rumour that they have a small track that can be used for £20 each for the day. I heard this from a woman in an MX5 that I was chatting to at a petrol station and said that she'd done it with the MX5 club.

She must have been very tired at the finish Dan! LOL

Regards location sure let people offer up some other venues,i was more offering a solution to our distant members as a weekend getaway. There is also Beaulieu MM as a location that might be worth a look.
I will attand wherever it is in the SW as long as i am not working.

Would not want to go much further than Exeter otherwise its closer to get to London events for me.

Duly noted Safrane,so will look for something around exeter to bath to salisbury to keep it central then.
still looking for other prospects for a venue though.
Shame it couldnt be torquay as i have a relative who owns a large hotel in torquay.

Have you thought about the Haynes place close to Shpeton Mallet. One or the forum members has his 3200 AC on show there soon as they are running a 'Special Edditions' stand. Aso have a nice Merak or Bora there and a very small track which I guess we could display on

Howdy all, Haynes would provide some interest and possibly accessible to the biggest number of people being easily done in a day from anywhere in the South, and weekenders can nip on down to the West Country proper easily.

I haven't a Maser at the moment so wouldn't wish to sully the gathering with my Milan taxi, but I can recommend a few nice lunch venues a short and amusing drive from the Haynes Museum. It is just off the A303 at Sparkford, and about 20 mins from me.

You never know I might park around the corner and "just happen to be passing..."!!!

Oh and I think their track is tight for MX-5's, 1st and if lucky 2nd only in a Maser but I may be wrong.

As I mentioned on the previous page, I've not actually seen the track at haynes, but according to the woman I was chatting to they didn't seem to mind the Mx5's powersliding out of the corners.
That tells me two things; 1st it sounds quite fun, 2nd it'll be small, tight and twisty as can't imagine an mx5 powersliding out of a corner at +50mph and marshalls not being bothered!
All of the above is hear-say so far, my maser hasn't been out for the last couple of weeks so I may pop over there at the weekend, failing that I'll ring 'em and get a full rundown.
On a seperate note, I'm talking to my Lotus club about doing a similar visit for a small number before the end of the year as a recci for a larger number to visit next Easter time. As and when that happens I'll mention it on here as I'm sure the Lotus boys and girls would like the odd V8 soundtrack to brighten up their visit.

Paco, M5 was welcomed at the Llandow meet so I'm sure your Milan taxi would feel more than at home in the company....More so than mine.
