Hi all,
Firstly I should say thanks to all the contributors on here who make this forum a great resource.
I am considering what could be a very patient journey in finding a 2 seater Stradale to purchase. I am fully aware of the low numbers of these, and to make matters even more difficult I am ideally looking for one that is not white or black, so I suspect that only leaves around maybe 10-15 of these in the UK? Car has always been a dream purchase on looks and sound, and I am sad to admit but I have a model GT by the bed and have purchased a number plate (see username) in preparation! I have had a short test drive in a 4 seater and the drama was superb. Struck me as a car that needs some respect and probably takes some time to fully learn and appreciate. Very different to my Boxster 981S PDK which is incredibly easy to drive and fly around corners in.
Given the likely long wait, I thought I would undertake some research on the cost of running these just to make sure I am not coming into possible ownership blind. I have crawled through numerous threads on here and I have come to the following conclusion below as a rough guide for myself. I would really appreciate if anyone could confirm or correct (probably more likely!) what I am currently assuming. If helpful to know, car likely to be a weekend toy and treated to some road trips, it would not be tracked.
Clutch - expect say 30,000 miles life, budget £2.5k for parts and labour
Service - every 2 years or 12,500 miles, budget £1k per service as an average - I understand there are minor and majors that perhaps fall either side of £1k
Brake Discs - ceramics so unless bad luck these should be > 100,000 miles I would hope. I currently have PCCB's on my Boxster which have barely worn after nearly 40,000 miles but it is a much lighter car. Cost for new discs are eye watering although I understand refurbs are becoming more 'affordable'.
Brake Pads - fronts expect 30,000 miles and budget £1k to change. Rears I expect maybe say 50,000, worth just assuming another £1k to change them?
Warranty - Toughest one I am finding an answer for doing some research. Is there a go to specialist company for peace of mind on these other than the usual generic ones? Be interesting to know what approach other owners take to cover vs setting outside a slush fund. For now I had guessed a budget £1500 annually for a warranty but that could be woefully light and if it is more like £3k+ I can see why people go down the route of setting that aside.
Anything else? - Would be keen to hear if there are any other key points I am missing to budget for.
On the basis of doing say 5,000 miles a year and owning the car for say 5 years I came to a very loose conclusion of setting aside £400 a month for running costs to cover the above and tyres, annual insurance and tax, fuel excluded. Again, be interesting to hear real world experience from owners.
Sorry for the long first post.....
Thanks all.
