Stradale brakes and clutch

The NQS (instrument ECU) does have a brake wear estimate stored in it. The estimate is arrived at using an algorithm with inputs like the number and severity of braking incidents.

Interesting, I knew there was something like that on some Ferraris which generates a warning light on the dash but I didn't know about in on a Maserati - is it just a case of a diagnostic plug in and hey presto, the calculation is made and the figure supplied?

Pretty much, yes. You also need to reset the counter when new brakes are installed.

Thank you, I had never heard of this and I wonder why you don't see the reading made more available for cars that are for sale.

I'm sure there are lots of people on here would like to know the status of their car's brakes - I think I might be too scared to know mine!

voicey, have you ever had to replace worn brakes on a stradale? I believe the parts are identical in some Ferraris too (599??) The only ones I have ever seen (on any make) that have been replaced have been through heavy track wear or mechanical damage - a stone wedged between the rotor and the pads - huge scoring -- shudder!

Not yet - the cars are too new and most are still inside the dealer network. I have however done a few Ferraris which I suspect had been tracked heavily. There was also some success getting the discs refurbished but the company let a lot of people down so I can't recommend them any more.
