Stolen cats

A neighbour reported that thieves had stolen the cats from her car parked in the driveway! The bast***s got away without making much noise and ruckus - our road is trying to round up any security camera footage footage to give to the police.

Got me to thinking about how easy or hard the cats in our QP Vs/GTs are to steal? I'm assuming they have some market value but would the thieving bast***s particularly be after ours?

Happens a lot sadly.
Original cats full of precious materials and worth good money.
The way things are going there's probably going to be more of these type of crimes.
:(

Thanks Phil. Would you say the ones in QP Vs/GTs are as easy to steal as other cars? Would their removal set off the alarm?

To get them off quickly they would make some noise and jacking the car up would most likely set the alarm off.

I remember reading, some years back, that SUVs were becoming increasingly hot targets as they are easy to get under. But in the same article it was explained that scrap yards, etc. had monitoring applied to see if they were accepting these articles. However, whether this was fully implemented or even policeable I don't know.

The government didn’t implement the legislation designed to prevent thefts of metals which are then sold for scrap. So cables, cats, sculptures, man hole covers are still being stolen for scrap.

Problem is some people still need an SUV type vehicle in rural areas. Our lane often floods throughout the winter months and normal lower cars just get stuck often.

I looked at options and there are few only something like an Audi Allroad so alternative options are limited.

With many SUV's coming out with EV options I'm not sure why the complete blanket hatred of SUV's comes from. My.wife has an MG ZS EV which I guess is still an SUV but a much smaller crossover size I guess. That is just about OK through the flooded lane.

We have lobbied the council for years as all the local residents have to resolve the flooding issues but nothing is done that has resolved it.

Yep - plus with three kids and very elderly parents around the corner who don't drive much I really need the seven seats. Wouldn't be my first choice but the XC90 is really practical for my needs.

The other side of the coin is we choose where we live so we can't have everything.
Highways maintenance has suffered massively in the UK it seems.
Been in France almost 4 years and really thought living in the Countryside I would need a 4x4 but there's nothing my Renault 4 cannot do.
We're Lucky as we have Good roads though.

Don't need an SUV for an ev if the roads are flooded.

The only justification anyone needs to own any type of car / SUV / EV is if they want one.
I don’t have to justify my choices to anyone other than me…….. having said that I never felt the desire to own an SUV or EV, but one day, who knows……
