Spyder roof question....

Has anyone done it, or heard of anyone changing the plastic rear window top (2002) with a later years (2003+) glass rear window top?
I have a chance to get a new roof (including the frame and pumps), but it's from a 2003 2003 & glass where mine is 2002 & plastic.

I talked to the dealership, and they said it should fit as the two part numbers (glass vs. plastic) are different but the rest are the same.
Very tempting to take a chance, but if going to be spending $4500 (CA) - I want to be sure!

Anyone know of it being done before?

I am aware this can be done on early Boxters, MX5....so it can be done.
You would need all the parts as they will fold differently...but note soft top roofs and very hard to fit properly as the seals around the door, header, rear bucket all have to b e perfect to stop water ingress.

Yes you can fit the later soft top on an early car

As Safrane says they are different hi'ish. The profile is different to allow for how the roof folds to allow for the glass screen.

$4,500 is it really worth it?

Is the wiring and button for the de-mister there? I guess not.

I'm sure you can rig it up to the heated wing mirrors.

All true, but keep in mind the set up I'm looking at has all components (full assembly, soft top, and pumps).
What is giving me a bit of comfort, is that most of the assembly is interchangeable between all years (as far as part numbers go).
The only change in part numbers is in the top itself. As for the de-mister....if need be I could probably wire it up.
If I'm successful in getting the full set up, I'll post before during and after shots!
