Spyder - A Day of Issues

Well today has been a day of dealing with Spyder issues that I didm;t know I had.

1. Rear End Shimmy

On the trip to the airport on Tuesday there was a bit of a shimmy from the rear when changing up, only very slight and I though maybe I was imagining it as it was cold and wet. Yesterday on the way back the same thing, I stopped and nothing obvious in the dark.

So this morning went around and started to check and found a rear tyre down by about 10lbs, pumped it back up and checked everything else and lo and behold no shimmy.

2. Roof Stuck

Took Mrs Z for lunch and she choose to drive topless - cool :) (await smutty comments ;) )

When we got back she starts to put the roof up again but takes the key out of the ignition midway! Roof would not move either direction. New trick learnt as I had to follow the manual close routine and once done it all worked properly again.

Two more jobs to do over the weekend, check the cause of the secondary air issue and look at the CD in the boot as it has decided not to work and I can't get it to eject any of the discs.

A rear-end shimmy and a topless wife?

Well done, you!

Glad both are dealt with. Given the beautiful acoustic nature of these beasties I daresay the CD issue is more of an irritation than an actual problem. I've barely listened to music or the radio in the car since I've had mine!

The roof thing will reset itself, I stopped it mid way once and the same happened, it sort of gets confused. I just used to leave it for 15 mins then it magically started working again.

CD, well, I did use it and it worked fine, I take it we are talking about the 6 stack in the boot? The one in the armrest had the sat nav disc in it, it does work but must admin I did not play with it much.

Rear end shimmy, well, that Spyder is d@mn fast and if you dont have descent tyres or the right pressures, it will squirm. I had different Pzeros on the rear and in the end sorted it by changing the tyres, all sorted.

As for the secondary air, I think I told you about that pipe in another thread, Marios told me its the one that runs round the front of the engine, they rot. Other than that you have a leak somewhere in the secondary air system or the sensor that monitors the secondary air is faulty.....you just have to love sensors dont you!

I have a full engine in bits in my garage, if you need any parts just shout.

All minor stuff, the CD was working fine until a day or so ago, I think one disc has got stuck. I will have a fiddle but it will be replaced soon with a iPOD connection anyway.

All cars have niggles I still love the car, one of the best purchases I have made.

Now bits in your garage, how about an Opel GT ?

:) :)
