First of all I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

I know it`s a bit late but It`s been non stop at work for me over the festive period this year, however I did manage a spark plug change on the 4200 today.

The weather was bright and sunny although a bit on the chilly side, but as it was my much needed day off I set to work.

I purchased a set of 8 Denso IU24 Plugs from Car Parts 4 Less, including delivery they were £77.99 which I think was a great deal.

After worrying how difficult a job it would be, and if I broke something (always expensive on a Maserati) I found it a very enjoyable and easy job, if a little time consuming !

The old plugs that came out were NGK PMR8B so I am glad they were changed out to the Denso IU24 as i believe these are the recommended plugs ?

I was amazed at how small the Spark Plugs are for this engine.

So if you are a bit wary of a DIY plug change, as long as you have the basic tools and some spare time give it a go

How did you get the spark plugs out at the back of the engine. I have LHD and there are things in the way like the coolant resovoire

Hi, I had no problem with the coolant bottle, I used 2 short ratchet extensions instead of one long one, the process is put the plug spanner with one short extension on the plug, then attach the next short extension into that then the ratchet  Fitting is the reverse

You do have to remove the plastic trim from around the engine bay before you begin as this gives you much more room.

Good work spark plugs are really not that bad on this engine... Changing the cam cover gaskets is a bit more fiddly due to the coolant reservoir and hose fouling access on that side but I reckon I could do it in half the time on the second attempt
