Hi I need some rear tyres on my QP (285/35 20Y) the fronts are fine, have always purchased Pirelli's previously but fed up with how quickly they wear. In future I plan to fit all Michellin tyres, but as an interim step will it cause any issues in putting Michelins on the back and have Pirellis on the front until they wear out ? , Also the only Michelins I find seem to be Mercedes fitment, appreciate any advice on this thanks.

Check the Michelin range - I wanted Pilot Sports 4S's all round, but for my 18"ers Michelin don't do 4S's for the fronts, only 4's....

So I have 4S's on the rear, 4's on the front.....

I've got Michelins on the front while waiting for my Pirelli rears to wear out. Shouldn't be long now!

Take a look around online, just checked Blackcircles and they’re coming in at £260 per tyre fully fitted in your size... but there’s a 10% off code for the Pilot 4’s bringing it down to £236 each

Agree with above personally I always try to keep tyres match especially on performance cars but in reality probably not a big issue but the relative wear between front and rear might be more of a worry

Here you go.

You won't regret it!
Regarding mixing tyres, not ideal but I wouldn't worry too much.
With the Michelins on the rear and pirelli on the front, you may experience a little understeer if pushing on. Especially in the cold or wet.
Just be aware of it and drive accordingly and you'll be fine.
trying the PS 4 from oponeo - Hoping that back end is more planted. If this fails might need an outboard motor.

I would never fit Pirellis again, to any car. I fitted new Pirellis Pilot Sports to the rear of my QP and 2 years later all of the rubber started cracking between the tread pattern. So much so it went down as an Advisory on the MoT cert. despite still having 5mm of tread left. I would go with Michelins every time, even if they are a bit pricier.

Blackcircles works well for me. Also, have a look at Goodyear F1 asymmetric 5s. They look to be a really good tyre but sizes may be a problem.

I thought the 4 and 4S were the same tyre, the S denoting sizes above 18”.

Wish I'd have got all season tyres - Michelins aren't - stuck in BE/LU with no car now.....

Something to consider...

seems my order is PS 4 S. Is this accidentally the sportier option? Might need to dust off the string backed driving gloves

It is the sportier option but they are the standard fit road tyre to lots of sporty stuff. IMHO they’re the right choice. The PS4 is more for BMW 520d etc.
