Relay was changed recently, clutch on approx 55%.

As she doesn't feel quite right I'll drop her at the garage on Monday. btw - are MAF sensors expensive?

Thanks again to everyone who assisted, I'll provide an update when I know more.

Saw a new one on Ebay a short while ago for less than a £100 , but here's the eurospares link

Maybe worth cleaning it with some Maf cleaner or electrical switch cleaner takes around 5 mins but be very gentle with it

Update -

Afternoon, just to let you know that the old girl is now running much much better... amazing what a new battery will do..

Basically the previous battery (although not that old) was not very good, it failed the battery test at Meridien. That combined with the car still being on the original carbon canister looks to have been the main cause of my problem!

On a positive note my recent visits to the dealer have resulted in her being washed a lot more than normal - although it is an expensive way to keep her clean!

GH, mine does the same. The carbon canister is due for replacement at its 31k major service next week, I will be getting them to do that.

Can you explain a little more to the fellas on here what the carbon canister does and its location and effect on the system. I sort of know what it is, but am sure you are better placed to fill us in.

Interesting thing here as most dealers have told me that they inspect the 4200 carbon cannister rather than automatically replace it at the 31k service. My understanding is that it does not fail so this news has relevance for many of us.

I am on 41k miles (original cannister) and everything seems fine. What mileage is you car at?

I'm no mechanic, actually far from it! but the garage said that it essentially stops the fuel vapor escaping to the atmosphere, without firstly being absorbed through the filter and then the remainder burnt in the combustion chamber in a managed way through the purge valve system.

I was told it should be replaced every four years..

I was also sent a schematic if anyones interested...

A little late this advice, but I've just replaced the battery on my GS - best deal I could find was this one:

http://www.tayna.co.uk/Type-096-Varta-Silver-Dynamic-Car-Battery-P3197.html

£87 delivered, capacity 74Ah, CCA 750A - 5 year warranty.

Took about 30 seconds to order, delivered to work the next day, fitted in about 10 mins. It's actually a little shorter than the Fiamm one it replaces, so the strap ended up a little loose, but it makes it easier to slot into place. The clamp itself holds the thing firmly in place so the strap is a little surplus to requirements IMO.

P

Parisien,

Good morning...... Strictly speaking the service schedule for replacement of the Lambda sensors and the carbon cannister on the QP V is four years. (The parts alone are around £500.) This is the 43,500 mile service. Emblem recommend changing these items when the car has reached the prescribed odometer reading rather than replacing them on the time factor alone.

Regards,

Paul

Hi P - I was told that it should be replaced when the car is four years old (or at least checked around major service time), and then every four years.

Matt - I have emailed you the schematic..

This is what the workshop manual says for a MY 06 QP...

So, although it says replace at least every 4 years,
You will notice that the 'R' is at 81000 and 87500 miles, depending on the serial number.
