Good evening all, I have been looking in on this forum for some time now with the intention of looking at buying a second hand GT. Having had, among others, an Aston DB9 and a Bentley Continental GT before, I an currently rattling around in a two year old Jaguar XFR which, while it is very practical, not bad on mpg and reasonable servicing costs, is not what I call an exciting car. One which makes you smile when you turn the ignition key and with an exhaust note to remove the need for in-car entertainment. In my eyes Maserati GT's are very pretty cars with ample performance for my personal needs.
My current situation means that I am looking in the £40-£45k bracket and that in turn means that I am not quite into the 4.7 engines just yet. My questions are:
1) Should I wait until the 4.7 version is affordable?
2) Are the later 4.2's just as good for the vast majority of the time?
3) Can someone tell me whether Skyhook suspension is a must or a no-no?
4) I don't see too many contributions on this forum regarding the GT's. Is this because I am on the wrong forum or are they less popular with Maserati owners?
5) Why, oh why, do so many of them on the second hand market have red leather interiors? I have only seen a handful in tan and a few in black.
There is one particular car on Autotrader in metallic grey with ivory interior but it has been sitting there for some time now almost hinting that it's not a good punt. Am I wrong to think that?
Anyway, I have rambled for too long but any advice or pointers from you knowledgeable guys would be greatly appreciated
