Speaking of buckets... has anyone REALLY bought a meguiars bucket and thought, I get a better wash using that than a £1 bucket from B&Q?

If so, look up confirmation bias. ;)

I bought a meguiars grit guard which would not fit in my £1 B&Q bucket, nor would it fit in the £5 halfrauds one so I bought the meguiars bucket to suit... It was many years ago when I was more enthusiastic and there was less options on the market. I noticed you can get the same shape bucket as the meguiars one now for a little cheaper from Halfrauds

I'm an Autoglym man so I have 2 of these with grit filters

I just cut the outer ring off my cheap grit guard so it would fit in the builder's bucket that I had.

I've always questioned the efficacy of grit guards, surely the grit doesn't have time to fall to the bottom between lambswool mitt dunkings? Anyway found this for butchering to fit the builder's bucket....

I think the idea is you scrub the mitt on the guard to get rid of the grit. Certainly what I did.

Funny - years ago I attended a full day with autoglym and one of the things they did was demonstrate / prove that a grit guard is completely ineffective.
Basically once your put your mitt back in the bucket the pressure forces the grit back form under the guard and back into the water.

Well, they should know!

Also use Bilthammer snow foam always found it the best at lifting the majority of the muck but still stick with two bucket method.

First time use of bilt hamber touchless in a hand foamer. It was quite a good result. Highly recommend if you want a quick wash or if you on a roadtrip. Just a bottle and a handfoamer is enough to keep the car cleanish.

If you don't already use the bilt hamber alloy wheel cleaner (none acid) it stinks but it's brilliant.
