I'm in a similar boat.
My wife thinks all speakers are ugly, and should not be allowed in the drawing room (except maybe for small hidden in-wall or in-ceiling jobs).
The ones we have (Linn) are simply the ones she dislikes the least, so I'm stuck with them.
It is generally referred to as WAF.
Wife acceptance factor.
Clearly your Linn’s have a medium to high WAF ;)

Just picked up another pair of active speakers, these were the price of a bag of werthers

Rich people :D

A student had them at uni, one stopped working, no power, so rather than get them fixed he sold them to me for £150 and got daddy to buy the latest version for £2300

Mum one of my speakers is broken, send £2300, what a life
. Found out they weren't £2300, they were £4300

The ones he sold me haven't turned out to be the bargain I'd hoped, my electronics guy said the psu is blown, beyond repair, a new part is £400 but it is a 5 minute job and replaces everything, amp & psu

They're still a bargain and I'll be keeping them, just not the bargain I was hoping for

He was about 20, I had a nose through his Facebook profile, when he was 14, he posted a picture titled my new ride to school

It was a Mclaren

An update to my 'bargain' dynaudio purchase

All fixed and sounding great but not the cheap fix I was hoping for

My repair guy couldn't find any diagrams at all so asked amongst his contacts, found a guy that used to work for them, they never repaired anything, just swapped boards complete then binned them

So they're still a bargain at £650 fixed but not the replace a blown fuse bargain I was hoping for

I visited Michell Audio in Stevenage last week, to drop off my old Michell turntables for servicing.
The boss, Johnathan, showed me their full range and talked me through the technical differences. What a great guy, and it was lovely to see a British engineering company doing well.

They only have 7 employees, but create a product renowned around the World. Wonderfull to see.

Obviously I now want to upgrade to a full Orbe, with their top tone arm (an adapted Rega, I think) and cartridge. But given that costs about the same as a 3200/4200/QP, it’ll not be happening anytime soon.

But maybe a second-hand GyroDec, with a lesser arm and cartridge, is viable from EBay. Decisions, decisions.

Visited Mitchell Audio eh? That sounds good already.
I quite like the idea of showing up there in a Maserati. The two sort of go together, don't they?
